I'm really liking the TV show so far, and I think Nick Offerman really fits in with the kind of humor they're going for which is to play everything completely straight. 

In album news, I'm officially on Act 2 of Status Quo Radio, and while there are a ton of rerecords and writing that I still have to do, it's not terribly far off. This week's track was a stripped down, acoustic version of Radio Days that I'll add the harmonica to later.

In other news, I saw The Wolverine. It was good up until it remembered "Shit, we have to be a comic book movie." You have all of these nice shots of Japan, the woods, all these really nice houses, and then the last 30 minutes takes place in some underground laboratory, where everything is cut so frantically I can hardly keep up. The best action takes place when it tried to be a samurai movie that just so happens to feature a dude with claws coming out of his hands.

 I got a job offer today for an engineering job which I've grown to detest for the past few months but hey at least it has medical and pension, because it's ok, I can still be one of those fat guys who "jam" with their other old guy friends covering folk music shit like mrs. robinson or me and julio down by the school yard or whatever other shit the classic rock radio format is trying to shove down my throat at the bar once every month and while we think we're getting somewhere we really aren't, and that will be good enough because it's what I'm supposed to do, even though I'm borderline suicidal for the past month or so and this is just another instance of me shrugging my shoulders and going "I guess" yet again, because I've always felt the pressure to "keep it safe" and "do the SMART thing" even though I'm 24, which I'm told is time to start settling down yet is super young and I still have all my life ahead of me, but fuck all of that, I guess I'm retiring from this music shit for a 42500 a year job, and I'm filled with regret because I never gave this thing a proper shot, and seriously, I feel like I'm trapped and dying and nothing I do is going to change it because fuckers like Mitt Romney run the world and I'm told to be thankful I have a job, and I can't talk to any of my friends about because they have either drank the kool-aid and jizzing their pants over HVAC plans and are content with what they do or are unemployed spending time what I want to do, which I guess means I finally get those people who yell "Get A Job" at the Occupy Wall Street protesters because misery loves company, I guess, so anyway, please give a shit about my music, but nobody has for the past 4 years of this blog, so why should anyone start now,

Hey, remember these guys? Young The Giant?
I saw this music video the other day on MTVU, and my first thought was, "Oh! I'm watching a channel called MTV and there's music on it!"

Then I thought, "Oh! This is the band that covered 'Ignition (Remix)'!"

It's not really my thing, but it was nice video. At first the whole "Wacky Hipsters Having Crazy Spontaneous Fun! (TM)" was going to get me to close the browser, but occasionally it cut to the lead singer lying in the middle of nowhere, and that little mystery was enough to keep me watching.

I'm still on the fence about giving them money, since it might be some good chill music.

Rhythm Bastard's Coming To Rock Band!

It's finally here!



The sound kinda sucks, but it's going to be one of those things I'll be fixing before I submit it this Thursday!

It's a little thing I've been doing in the interim in between songs. "Axe Cop" is the first, followed thereafter by "Robotman's Lament", which I'll start working on after I put up "Axe Cop".

And yes, I did get Ethan Nicole's permission.

Being that it is April 1st we were a little wary, but being that we're game journalists, that means it is absolutely true. Just take a look at the exceptional journalism at the political blog on our network, America USA Freedom Blog, with it's landmark piece "Is MC Chris A Communist Wizard?" by James O' Toole.

The Rhythm Bastard is authoring an MC Chris 3-pack of video game referencing songs (because we are a game journalism blog), including "FTW", "Nrrd Grrl" and "Japanese Maid", the latter of the three being video game related because it is about glorious Nippon.

This speculation absolutely has to be true, because he currently has Akira The Don and MC Lars ("Steven Wells (He Was The Greatest)" coming soon) in the Rock Band Network, who are also accompanying Chris on the Melanin Challenged Tour this May. Therefore, everything has to be taken to the most extreme conclusion.

After all, the title is a question so we're not really misleading people.

Josh Eppard, a.k.a. Weerd Science, is technically already in Rock Band, as the drummer for popular New Prog outfit The New Pornographers, but his music sounds like man exorcising his frustrations and past demons through razor sharp raps, and the guitar charts for those wouldn't even break devil tier.

However, most surprisingest is the "Axe Cop" announcement. Now, even though the Rhythm Bastard has a song about Axe Cop, the fact that only the one song is a little suspect. THat can only mean:

WHY WOULD HE MENTION THAT?

February 12th Show At The Vault

So, what was the biggest musical event this weekend? Right, my set at The Vault on Saturday!

I've been taking voice lessons, and my teacher has a little showacase where all of her students perform. There was a fair range of people there, from third graders to older women.

The Vault though looks like it operated out of some guy's house. There is a documentary about it sitting on my desk right now, but you can check out the website.

Anyways, it was a simple, 2 song set, with "Radio Days Pt. 1":

Getting The Axe

I made a song about Axe Cop, a comic written by a 6-year old and drawn by his 29 year old brother. And it's a lot better than you'd expect: amazing, even. It's a tribute to the imagination unfettered by the rules of writing.

It's the polar opposite of Sonichu, a horrible comic written by a 28 year-old who's mentally 6.

I just finished recording guitar on another song based off a webcomic.

In other news, most of my efforts have been toward "This Gigantic Robot Kills" in Rock Band Network, and setting up a LiveStream concert, so learning Rock Band songs have fallen to the wayside.
