Status Quo Sunday Is Feeling The Feels

NEW SONG: "The Most Epic T-Shirt" (From Patreon)

My first Patreon Song, now available to all of you!

This was an idea I had for quite a while, looking at all of those crossover shirts both legitimate (See my song "Think Geek Is Not Nerdcore") and illegitimate (See, like 90% of Redbubble, Etsy and Your Local Con).

So really, why not just make a T-shirt with a million references on them?

And yes, the T-shirt will be real... very soon.

ANIME IWAI IS THIS WEEKEND! Just a reminder of the events I'm going to be at:

I just got off of Fantoku: An Orlando Nerd Fest Show, and I'm ready and raring to go with a killer new set!

FANTOKU: AN ONF EVENT
https://i2.wp.com/orlandonerdfest.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/onf-fantoku-logo-announcement.png?w=450
I forgot to post it up on here because I was given the slot 48 hours before the show, and I was ALL HANDS ON DECK preparing. The great thing is that I tried a lot of new stuff with regards to my live act, and it went over well! Look forward to that for future con shows!

I played the opening slot on Saturday, and there were people there ready to rock out! Unfortunately, there might not be much in the way of video, since the stream wasn't up by the time I began.

However, there will be pictures, some of them shirtless!

Overall, it was great to see everyone again after so long. Orlando Nerd Fest's description isn't kidding when they that it's also part family reunion. While Orlando is probably the capital for Nerdcore music, there's a lot of us spread throughout the country, and major events like ONF and MAGFest are good opportunities to reunite with people you've only talked to and worked with online. I got to meet with Twill in person, watch her crush her set with Wreck The System and reenact the infamous MIRACLES! scene, I got to see DJ Roborob after so long, and I reunited cool Orlando guys Marc With A C, Eye Q, Sci-Fried, Jackson Parodi and Ben Briggs.

I challenged the lead singer of Sci-Fried to Hearthstone, because they have a song called "Boom Boom C'Thun". He declined, because he knew what would have happened:

(I'd be Gul'Dan BTW)

For breakout acts, ONF 2015 had (in my opinion) SkyBlew and Navi. This year, was Wreck The System's year to shine.

Wreck The System are 4 MCs (Cam3, Lady J, Osiris Green and Twill Distilled) who've banded together to create awesome music and put on kick ass shows. Seriously, they were intense and their stage show was well choreographed.

Which I can aprreciate, since 3000 Brigade practice is making my body feel stupid.

JAM OF THE WEEK: "Berserk" by Wreck The System

They have another single that release last month, "Hotel Party", that captures the feeling of 1 AM debauchery on the Friday Night of a con, but this one better shows  their skills on the mic.

THIS WEEK'S JAM:

.... Yeah, I bought it off Steam for $6.

What can I say? I loved this game as a kid, and this haunting melody set up the perfect contrast for all the wonderful design, strategy and murderous funtimes that would await. Which leads me to...

STATUS QUO STREAMING
Yes to working on some music, however what game I play afterward is split between Tales From The Borderlands and Roller Coaster Tycoon. Hopefully some people show up, and hopefully you all have some good times.

He's a super cool dude who produced Status Quo Radio and does DJ sets every other Monday night. There's an inter-community thing some Nerdcore people are working on called

Oh yeah, that thing that happens every 6 months where people break some of my favorite games in a display of knowledge and reflexes for the sake of Doctors Without Borders. You know, THAT thing.

Status Quo All Stars

This week's Jam:

someBODY once told me....

OMNI EXPO THIS WEEKEND!

Now, while I haven't seen much of Attack on Titan, I am still excited for this event. What am I looking forward to?
-My show! New songs in the works, new live songs, and some plenty of the old standbys!
-EyeQ! I saw him at Roborob/Shelby's reception and Orlando Nerd Fest as himself and part of RPG-Unit. He's hosting a couple workshops with Ben Briggs, and I want to swing by.
-Roborob at Space Coast Nerd Fest, which is why not a lot of album stuff is being done. We're both showmen a heart, and we're practicing really hard you guys.
-Tabletop gaming. STAR REALMS, MAGIC THE GATHERING, WHAT U GOT, SON?
-Meeting Matt Mercer. Currently the voice of Levi on Attack on Titan, but recently I found out he did this... interesting series for the Escapist aka Totally Pays On Time Central. called "There Will Be Brawl"

Also this weekend, I was at South Florida Magic's Battle of the Stores, cheering on my two stores, Past Present Future comics in West Palm Beach and Wizard's Tower in Stuart. My friend Jacob did a write up on his personal site, and while I wasn't part of a team, I still got to play some side events, scrubbing out of two drafts, but at least I got to play some other card games like Star Realms and the DC Deckbuilding Game.

Team Wizard's (of Wizards Tower) took first prize! Congratz guys!

So, I got some good news! I'm putting in the orders for the T-shirts, hopefully they can be at Hero Hype Con. Right now, I'm putting in some practice while RAW is on in the background. Omni Expo is looking to be a lot of fun, and I might also stop by the IndieBox offices to do some boxing and get mine early...

Big weekend coming up, let's kick its ass!

Status Quo Goes EXTREEEEEEEEEEMMMMEEE!!!

This week's jam:

We're talking Seth Rollins/Randy Orton CAGE MATCH EXTREME! Or at this point post-show RAW EXTREME!!!

ALBUM NEWS:
Going to be checking in this week, not much on that front. You know what would make my producer SUUUUPER happy? Buying his new album, Solaris Part 3!

MUSIC NEWS:
Finished some lyrics this weekend, recording vocals this week, and hopefully releasing something next SQR!

KICKSTARTER NEWS:
Still in conversations with people right now, hoping to go with local businesses to try and get this stuff made. So far the feedback I've gotten haven't been THAT different than what I originally anticipated, so we're all good on that front.

I've put a poll up on the sidebar to get an idea of how much of each shirt I should bring with me to cons.

Recently, I put my money where my mouth is, and delved into Blender, using this tutorial:

It's for a special reward that I've mentioned earlier, but I want to email Valve first to ask them if it's OK to have an item as a Kickstarter reward.

SHOW NEWS:
Vendor? Orlando Nerd Fest's got ya covered.

DUMB SHIT I BOUGHT NEWS:
Got me a turntable.... THAT ALSO plays cassettes, CDs, AM/FM radios and has an aux in jack for MP3 players, and it currently sits handsomely on my dresser. Haven't played a lot of stuff on it, but so far it works, and it's good to free up space on my computer so I'm not distracted by clicking off on YouTube or Twitch and watching everything else. It's like when I listen to Slacker Radio when I work or am in the gym.

What record did I listen to? Well, you'll just have to find out on next week's Echo CHamber, which I'm starting riiiiiiight....now.

See you then!

SQS Unit

This week's jam:

Saturday I went to a wedding reception to two of the nicest people when it comes to Florida Nerd Music: Rob (aka DJ RoboRob) and Shelby (aka Starby). A bunch of awesome DJs and rappers went on stage and it was a great time :D.

I met them at Omni Expo last year, and they watched me play a show out in the hallway. Super nice then, and nothing less since then. The best of luck to the both of them!

ALBUM NEWS:
What?

YOU GOT ALBUM NEWS, RIGHT?
You mean the album I finished?

YEAH THAT ONE
OK, the album I finished and released and is not awaiting final touches from production and kickstarter, right?

NO, WAIT-
Dino Hunter MD: The Sound Track will be on YouTube. It was something I should have done a while ago, but I will do with Status Quo Radio.
Why? Anytime I tell people I do music, one of the things they ask is  "Do you have your stuff on YouTube?" EVERYONE knows what YouTube is. YouTube has everything. It's not a music specific site like Soundcloud or Bandcamp or even this site, it a place they're looking for entertainment on anyway, and it'll bring all the traffic my way.

Also, I recently entered a partnership with DNOS Collectables, so go check them out! They'll be selling my stuff at Hatsume Fair Boca Raton this weekend! They also have cool anime collectables that you can get while you're there.

And, speaking of cons, I've been confirmed for Hero Hype!

Finally, a short movie I was involved in at GeekFest:

Status Quo Sick Days

This week's jam:

ALBUM NEWS:
While I wanted to get album work done, my voice was shot and nasally for the past few days, so singing was out of the question. Also, time is limited as I have to pack for PAX East this weekend, but writing is still taking place, and not just for this, but for other songs as well. Dragons of Tarkir spoilers are starting soon....

In essence, I have 5 things left to send over, and they'll all be done at pretty much the same time. Granted, I do plan on meeting with Rob in person to finalize stuff and buy him a beer and congratulate him on his marriage, so while the album won't be 100% done, I'm working hard on trying to get the hard stuff over with.

BRIEF ASIDE:
My producer, DJ Roborob, has an EP coming out soon. You can preview it here:

KICKSTARTER NEWS:
A lot I'm holding off on, because I'm working on the album proper. Granted it's an e-mail to a voice actor here, a Blender tutorial there, but yeah, I would like to check to see if I make a TF2 Workshop item as a backer reward, I can GUARANTEE that I can deliver. T-shirts, stickers, CDs, that stuff I have on lock and all figured out, it's the unique things I'm trying to work on.

PAX EAST STUFF:
Yeah!!!
It just keeps getting better every new thing I find out about it:
-SWERY65 of (lord i miss) Deadly Premonition and D4.
-Goldenye 007 Tournament
-Magic The Gathering, Mega 64 AND GIANT BOMB Panels?!?!?
-Markiplier, Matt and Woolie of Two Best Friends Play and the guy behind that facade video I like so much.
Lots of gaming, lots of Magic, and handing out a shitton of business cards.

So if any of you are planning on going, you'll know where to find me
My copy of Deadly Premonition is going to be signed by soooo many people.

I'll also send out the MP3 of my Fate Reforged song to all the mailing list peeps before I leave.

NEW CANNIBAL TROLL FILM FILM!
