Status Quo Sunday Is Feeling The Feels

NEW SONG: "The Most Epic T-Shirt" (From Patreon)

My first Patreon Song, now available to all of you!

This was an idea I had for quite a while, looking at all of those crossover shirts both legitimate (See my song "Think Geek Is Not Nerdcore") and illegitimate (See, like 90% of Redbubble, Etsy and Your Local Con).

So really, why not just make a T-shirt with a million references on them?

And yes, the T-shirt will be real... very soon.

ANIME IWAI IS THIS WEEKEND! Just a reminder of the events I'm going to be at:

I just got off of Fantoku: An Orlando Nerd Fest Show, and I'm ready and raring to go with a killer new set!

I did this late, and RAW is on, so I'm kinda rushing through all of this.

FANTOKU: AN ONF EVENT
https://i2.wp.com/orlandonerdfest.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/onf-fantoku-logo-announcement.png?w=450
I forgot to post it up on here because I was given the slot 48 hours before the show, and I was ALL HANDS ON DECK preparing. The great thing is that I tried a lot of new stuff with regards to my live act, and it went over well! Look forward to that for future con shows!

I played the opening slot on Saturday, and there were people there ready to rock out! Unfortunately, there might not be much in the way of video, since the stream wasn't up by the time I began.

However, there will be pictures, some of them shirtless!

Overall, it was great to see everyone again after so long. Orlando Nerd Fest's description isn't kidding when they that it's also part family reunion. While Orlando is probably the capital for Nerdcore music, there's a lot of us spread throughout the country, and major events like ONF and MAGFest are good opportunities to reunite with people you've only talked to and worked with online. I got to meet with Twill in person, watch her crush her set with Wreck The System and reenact the infamous MIRACLES! scene, I got to see DJ Roborob after so long, and I reunited cool Orlando guys Marc With A C, Eye Q, Sci-Fried, Jackson Parodi and Ben Briggs.

I challenged the lead singer of Sci-Fried to Hearthstone, because they have a song called "Boom Boom C'Thun". He declined, because he knew what would have happened:

(I'd be Gul'Dan BTW)

For breakout acts, ONF 2015 had (in my opinion) SkyBlew and Navi. This year, was Wreck The System's year to shine.

Wreck The System are 4 MCs (Cam3, Lady J, Osiris Green and Twill Distilled) who've banded together to create awesome music and put on kick ass shows. Seriously, they were intense and their stage show was well choreographed.

Which I can aprreciate, since 3000 Brigade practice is making my body feel stupid.

JAM OF THE WEEK: "Berserk" by Wreck The System

They have another single that release last month, "Hotel Party", that captures the feeling of 1 AM debauchery on the Friday Night of a con, but this one better shows  their skills on the mic.

StAtuZ Qo SuMdaE g0EZ to colleg!

FOR A LATE STATUS QUO SUNDAY ON 3/16 GIMMIE A HELL YEAH!!!!
https://duchisms.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/austin316.jpg

This week's jam:

tEmm1e waNz tO geeV u LotZ of iTeMZ!

So, I'm going to have some #content4u later, but this week's jam goes out to Ben Briggs, fellow Florida music man. This Glitch Hop Mix makes an already happy song even happier and bringing wub wubs to all the children who fell down a hole.

Not a whole lot this week, because I will have cool stuff for you all at the very least by next week, mostly I'm working on preparation and other work. I'm also getting some good stuff from Omni Expo on the YouTube page!

UPDATED CON NEWS:

HERO HYPE CON!
Will be performing! I'm back for year 4!
Show will be at 3PM!

And here's the FaceBook Event!

GEEKFEST!
Not there, but will be networking. Maybe I'll cosplay! It's a total surprise if you haven't visited my Tumblr or Instagram. Or don't know me at all...

PAX EAST!
This is a vacation for me, just hanging out and partying with the Echo Chamber people! You can expect me Drafting some Magics.

OUTCON!
At the very least, I will have a table there. How dumb my cosplay is will depend on if I'm performing there, or how badly I want attention.

FLORIDA FANDOMANIA
I'm a musical guest, so YAY FOR ME! Lots of big guests, and it's run by Chibi Pa Alum, so it's looking to be pretty swell!

There are of course other cons not listed yet, but it's still only March.

As far as other stuff goes, I've been playing Dishonored, and I'm coming around to it. At first as I was a little resistant to it, but I'm enjoying the ability and the challenge of having to do a "pacifist" run of the game. Oh, I've been killing a LOT of people, but all the main assassination target have died by nonlethal means.

I've been streaming it on my Twitch and uploading the archives on my YouTube.

So check it out and *glass shatters*

From Parts Unknown, It's The Status Quo Sunday!

Brock Lesnar is doing the Mega Knee on everyone right now, so this week's jam is:

Also apropos, because Ben Briggs, fellow Florida music type dude hosted a stream this weekend to help raise money to get his life back on track, and I managed to catch some of it. Mainly the highlight was Hot Pepper Fan Fiction: Eating a habanero, then reading through shitty garbage fanfics, including one so bad, it made, as Ben put it "forgot to get high".

And what a goddamn trooper, still throwing shade when he's dying.

OMNI EXPO EVENT NOW ON FACEBOOK!
There it is! First convention show of the year!

NEW MERCH IN THE BANDCAMP!
First off, the cover for the album:

Another shout out to the incredible Mervyn McKoy, all I did was stretch it out a bit. I've had it for sale at conventions, but never thought to put it on the Bandcamp.

Next up is the Kickstarter Poster:

Artwork by Lancelot Richardson at clockodile.com.
I found out about him through a TF2 Fandom Secret Santa, and he does incredible fantasy work, which you can find on his site.

MUSIC UPDATE- NO WAIT, LEMME GUESS NOTHING?
I've been getting work done, with a couple songs are in progress. Nothing concrete yet, but at least I'm at the point where I can focus on putting stuff in Reaper again. There's been a lot of other projects that crossed my mind and I'm in the habit where I have my guitar accessible and Reaper open.

My headspace in a post-album/in-between album world is all about getting over the little psychological things. If I focus less on lyrics, I can focus on other areas to move the song forward. If I finish songs, I don't need to worry that all of this is shouting in the void, because I'll always have something going on. If I build a Reaper File, even if it's just the basic drum beat, then I have a place to put all my song ideas.

There's still the big psychological things: stress from work, worried I'm going to lose it, always being "on call" for my family be it chores or anytime a fight goes down, it's nuts.

Being a millennial with any kind of stability or success is like shelter in a zombie apocalypse: you're OK for now, you might even have people to watch your back, and maybe some food and water, but there's the lingering threat that any second, zombies can burst through the barricade, or the asshole who runs a fascist society could come along and curb stomp your ass.

All I can do now is try to work in between fighting off the hordes.

Attack On Status Quo: Episode Sunday

This week's jam:

Omni Expo turned out a lot better than I was expecting, for someone who has only seen 6 episodes of Attack On Titan (one more since last year).

First off, a hearty hello to everyone who I met and a million thanks to everyone who came out to see my show on Saturday and Sunday! Sorry it was in the hot room with the less than optimal set up, but we made it work!
Some highlights:
-The concerts: EyeQ spits literal fire, and Ben Briggs knows how do run a DJ booth. Was also introduced to Boy Without Batteries, who introduced me to LSDJ, a program used to make music on Game Boys. Briggs and Boy Without Batteries hosted an electronic music production panel that I found very interesting. I've been considering going into

-Getting in a 4-player game of Boss Monster, and a bunch of games of Magic The Gathering. Boss Monster is a game where you want to AVOID opportunities to score for as long as possible. The object of the game is to build a dungeon where heroes come in to try and kill you, but you have to kill them first. Depending on the rooms in your dungeon, you atract different types of heroes. Therefore, it's usually smarter to avoid attracting heroes to your dungeon until you have a few rooms.

-More Gaijin Takiyaki. Candy wrapped in cake batter. MMM….

-Meeting up with TrueGeekRadio.

-Matt Mercer doing his Kirby voice from THERE WILL BE BRAWL. I just learned that he was/is the new voice of Kanji from Persona 4. If I would have known that, I would have asked him to do one of his quotes instead like :”IM GONNA RENOVATE YOUR ASS”

-Sleeping in my car. That was … fun. Remember kids, always book a hotel room in advance, ESPECIALLY if it’s memorial day weekend.

And that's pretty much it. My next show is at Hero Hype Con for Year 3. GET HYPED!

ALBUM/KICKSTARTER/MERCH-
Fuck you, I'm tired, and I've got 10 hour days this week. I will post something in the middle of the week to make up for no podcast though.
