Status Quo Wednesday Takes You To The Inventor's Fair

NEW SONG: THE INVENTOR'S FAIR

This song came together a little bit before the OFFICIAL MAGIC STORY was being published, because I kinda had an idea of the overall story and feel of the set, however until recently I didn't have the wherewithal to finish it.

But I'm proud of it, and thanks to moopuns, I was able to get it together to this shape.

I went with 70's punk for this because A. I wanted something simpler after getting weird and experimental with the Innistrad block and B. It fit in with the theme of rebellion and renegades fighting authority.

Sadly because of this I did not tap God-Bird Art for the cover art, but I will get back to him for Aether Revolt's cover.  You should still support his Patreon or commission him sometime!

THIS WEEK'S JAM

:D

THIS WEEK'S REAL JAM:

Rock Band Rivals came out the other day, and this week's Weekly Challenge is to play songs with "Love" in the title. This was one of the songs I got as DLC as part of a pack or something, and it went unplayed for a while. Then I played it, and loved it. Garbage I only know through "I Think I'm Paranoid", "Cherry Lips" and "Stupid Girl" so I always assumed they were this very soft, trippy alt-rock band, but "Why Do You Love Me?" is intense as all hell.

UPCOMING SHOWS
I updated the side bar!

I like it so far! Rockudrama has actually been kinda funny, and Rivals mode got be back into regularly playing! Hopefully the momentum keeps up in the coming weeks, and this is a commitment to do more for RB4 in the long term.

PODCAST RECAPS: I'm Not Late, I Just Wanted To Include The New Voice Of All

VOICE OF ALL KALADESH EPISODE 6- BOTTLED UP

I played the brute in this one! What'reya buyin' STRANGA?

I'D RATHER NOT EPISODE EPISODE 32

-I'd Rather Not is getting to have a VERY deep lore. Ancient Gods, Space, IndieGoGo? What's next?

-Kudos where Kudos is due: At least Rick Scott (AKA Governor of Florida Voldemort) said "YO, PREP FOR THAT SHIT" instead of saying "Just pray" like he did after the Pulse Orlando shooting.

-I like the constant ongoing delusion Andy has by saying Magic The Gathering has no value, however, according to TCGPlayer.com, as of this writing is currently worth about $50:
Lightning Greaves, Magic, Masterpiece Series: Kaladesh Inventions

-What I was going to say when Andy asked me about BitCoin is that we need to find a way to rip off libertarian nerds somehow.

-

This sack of shit is running for president.

Also people who use "cuck", "feminazi" and "SJW" as insults are worthless as people and their opinions will never matter.

-Iwai means "Celebration" in English. So that's what that means Anime Andy:

Status Quo Wednesday Has A Personality Crisis

IT'S COMING!

ULTRACON RECAP!

Eh... I've usually had bad luck with Ultracon, and it kinda continued this weekend in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. I only went on Sunday because I assumed I had a work thing, but because of aforementioned hurricane, work thing got cancelled.

By Sunday everything was dead, so instead I held a little mini-show and walked around with my guitar/mini-amp rig. It was all right, but again, Sunday wasn't very busy. Hopefully Ultracon fills out this space better next year.

THIS WEEK'S JAM

I've been looking toward early protopunk to get help with the song for Kaladesh, and how can I forget this fucking barnburner I first heard in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith? You;d imagine these early punk groups to not have as much bombast as they do, but here we are, guitars, pianos and David Johnansen's vocals are out in full force.

FUTURE CONS

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1174/0296/files/samp_front.jpg?1206783103406927145

My last two cons of the year are Anime Iwai and Holiday Matsuri. Anime Iwai is basically Chibi Pa 2.0, and the people that work there behind the scenes are pretty cool, so it's bound to be a Good Time.

Holiday Matsuri was a big surprise last year, because it's on the cusp of becoming a big name con like Supercon and MegaCon, but it's still small enough that you can get around easily. My show slot is not very good, but I'll still enjoy myself regardless.

YO DICKBUTT, WITH ALL THESE CONS, WHERE'S YOUR RECAP VIDEOS?

It's next on the list, right after "The Inventor's Fair" is uploaded.

PODCAST RECAPS FOR 10/08/2016: VIDEO GAMES? Videjo Garmes!

ECHO CHAMBER 183

I didn't forget, we just railed on the Xbone for 90 minutes.

VOICE OF ALL- BORN OF AETHER

I play Not-Soldier 76! This was one of the better MtG stories of this block, so kudos!

I'D RATHER NOT EPISODE 31

-As of this past Friday, the Giant Bomb Shenmue Quick Look ended, and BOY WAS THAT ENDING THE EPITOME OF NOT WORTH IT.

Hope they do Shenmue 2.

-The game I was talking about where your uncle is a cosmic horror is called "The Uncle Who Works At Nintendo" It's pretty interesting, and I might play it on stream one of these days.

Something Awful: So what exactly is your uncle's role in the Nintendo organization?
Guy Whose Uncle Works for Nintendo: My uncle is one of the main guys. He invented Mario. He lives in Japan and he knows the president of Nintendo. The president of Nintendo is named Ryu Nintendo and he invented the first Nintendo, which was a robot that did math. My uncle works on all the games and makes up how the levels look, and he knows all the cheat codes and can get extra men in any game. He gets to play all the games before they come out and he gives them all to me when he beats them.

-Campo Santo of Firewatch posted up an article noting a situation similar to "UNCLE NINTENDO"

Status Quo Wednesday Is On El Radio

ULTRACON!

http://ultraconofsouthflorida.com/wp-content/themes/Reporter/timthumb.php?src=http://ultraconofsouthflorida.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Ultracon-Of-South-Florida-Convention-Promo-Irving-Orlando.jpg&h=150&w=200&zc=1

This was kind of out of nowhere (got the announcement last week?), and I won't be there on Saturday, but how can I turn down a show on the 1 year anniversary of Status Quo Radio?

Last year, the rooms got shuffled around and I wasn't able to get a show, hopefully the hurricane doesn't fuck with things.

THIS WEEK''S JAM:

Todd in the Shadows covered this on a recent episode of his series "One Hit Wonderland", and despite his opinion of song, I was into it when he did a piano rendition in the intro. The original version is right in that spot of more punk-y new wave, but Authority Zero did a version with the energy and bounce that I was looking for in the song.

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF STATUS QUO RADIO
Status Quo Radio is out there. It took me 5 years from a concept of a Team Fortress 2 album to what we have today. It was this project that as it went along, I added more to it: my frustrations, my fears, my politics, and while I can still say it was influenced by the video game, it's not so obvious you could play on Nerdist as "#EPIC Team Fortress Song!", it'd get big for a week, and then fade out. That's not what I want.

I'm not a hack like Brentalfloss or Natewantstobattle* where I'm compelled to do something based on the HOT NEW THING because it's already an effort to bring myself to work on music in the first place because, hey, I went and got myself a real job and my free time is trying to hold on to my will to go in tomorrow. Since I can't be relevant, I'll work on being good.

Looking ahead, I'm still going to make music of course, and do the Magic The Gathering songs, and everything else, but I don't know if I can bring myself to do an album without a "point".

But for now, I'll be proud. I'll be thankful for DJ Roborob, who I met by chance at Omni Expo 2 years ago, and was a great partner in mixing, mastering, and getting this thing finished.

I'll be thankful for Arcanon who did the drums for a few songs and helped make the beats that much better.

I'll be thankful for David, Jesse, Rhythm Dadstard, who contributed vocals.

I'll be thankful for anyone who listened and liked it.

Thank you!

*No disrespect, both are very talented and most certainly not hacks, but I'm trying to get some heel heat.
