This is the jamest of jam weeks:
Twas slim pickings by the time I got to a record store for Record Store Day since all the exclusives were gone, but I got to pick up Black Flag's "Damaged" and an Iggy Pop live album.
Interesting I chose those two, since, well... this story...
I have tomorrow off, so I'll set up the turntable then. Was really
tempted to buy an EXCLUSIVE RSD 7-inch turntable, but eh, I'm new to
vinyl, so I really wouldn't know what to do with it. It's also one of those things I can buy at a thrift shop for like, 20 bucks.
Speaking Record Store Day, odd that on THAT DAY is when I compiled every song in one place on Status Quo Radio for the first time...
ALBUM NEWS:
Last two songs are being mixed and mastered, intertitals are being written, and a;; that's left is the Kickstarter stuff, which I've sent out e-mails for. They're great people I'm psyched about working with, so I'm pumped for these rewards, they're really going to be worth it.
Earlier I touched on vinyl, and as my compiling experiment went, it clocks in at around 43 minutes, which would make it juuuuust under the cut for pressing, if I'm ever stupid enough to go in that direction. However, with interstitial, I'm planning on having it clock in at around 50 minutes

Echo Chamber Post Game Episode 76

-One band that changed its front-man and still managed to be sucessful was AC/DC. Granted, the sound of the band changed up a little bit, from fast/hard blues rock to something a little slower, but it's still good.

Nerdist Presents: Henry Rollins
It's an amazing interview and every time this man opens his mouth I'm inspired.
So I've started buying more RBN songs, inspired by Henry Rollins "One Album a Day" thing.
So far I've bought:
"-20% For Being A Loser" Very dirty, loose metal, kinda like The Melvins. -20% reccomendation if that shit's a My Little Pony reference.
"24-7"- Nice, laid back song with a good guitar line, and a strong drum beat. Resembles Young The Giant if you listen to your local alt rock station.
"28 Days"- Probably my favorite song out of the three, it's got a lot of energy. My best comparison? Probably R.E.M. in it's peppier tones.
Someone on the Something Awful Forums randomly tipped me off to this song, by Japanese artist Cornelius, "Last Night In Africa" and I LEGITIMATELY OBTAINED the album that came from, 69/96.
Also picked up Green Day's oldest album (1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours) and newest album (Uno!) in the same FYE trip.Listening to Uno! right now. Nothing terribly special. It's a return to more straight forward rock, but something feels lacking.
Right now, a lot of my efforts are on the Rock Band Network stuff and getting "Hell Yeah" and "Lars Attacks" passed and playtested. However, in addition to a VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON, I'm trying to put out a new song every two weeks.

July 20th, 2011 Videos Of The Week
In Honor Of Henry Rollins
LIVE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: "Rise Above" and "American Waste" by Black Flag
Sound quality's not so good, but the energy is just downright contagious!
First video, Rise Above, is with Rollins, and former singer Dez Cadena playing guitar, who then sings on the second, and earlier song American Waste.
Target Video was a studio that recorded a lot of punk bands live performances, including the Dead Kennedys, Iggy Pop and the Sex Pistols.
MUSIC VIDEO OF THE WEEK: "Let There Be Rock" by The Hard-Ons feat. Henry Rollins
Henry Rollins will fuck a guy up if there isn't any rock.
The Hard Ons, one of Austrailia's bigger indie bands recorded a cover of the AC/DC Classic in 1991.
I was expecting him to half shout the song, but he delivers it. Still great, but I do miss a couple of the vocal flourishes that Bon Scott did in the original, like the southern accent on "Hear the finger pickin'", for example.
