Status Quo Sunday Really Wants You To Kickstart Suplex Saga

SUPLEX SAGA IS NOW ON KICKSTARTER
 Suplex Saga
I've been keeping this under my hat for too long, and now it's out there!

Suplex Saga, a wrestling themed RPG game that I did music for is now available on Kickstarter! It looks really fun from what they've shown me, with Chrono Trigger style graphics and Paper Mario style combat!

JAM OF THE WEEK: "Suplex Saga Music" by Rhythm Bastard

That battle theme is probably my favorite thing I've written. The main beat behind it was that I had the idea to use the cadence of wrestling chants as a rhythmic guideline.

Example: "Dan-iel Bry-an! *clap clap clapclapclap* (1-2-3-4, 1-2-3and4)

Once I had that, it was very simple to write. It wasn't easy, since I did a lot of research into my favorite RPG battle songs and had to pick out little elements that make them workm but I think what I have here can hang with the best of them.

I hope this gets funded so I can work in other cadences like "New - Day Rocks" (1-rest-and3-rest) and the Amen Break of Chants, "Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks" (1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-rest)

ACTUAL JAM OF HE WEEK "I Am Alive (Rick and Morty Remix)" by Chetreo

I'm glad we have new Rick and Morty. The past episodes have been a little off, and little heavy with the whole BETH AND JERRY ARE DIVORCED plot that's the new driving force, but I came for goofy sci-fi mixed with dark humor, and that's what I've been getting.

This? I just like that hook. Let Morty's pleading fill you with warm fuzzies and uplift you in the sad times.

Like most stuff you see out of Rick and Morty, it's easy to put on a T-shirt, or in this case, remix, but gets miserable when you put it in context. Mr. Meeseeks are blue creatures that make have a violent knee-jerk reaction and Minion flashbacks, but serve to highlight how fleeting some of the things we want can really be. Contrast how easily they were able to handle Summer's "I want to be more popular" and Beth's "I want to be a more complete woman" which sound very abstract vs. Jerry's "I want to be better at golf".

Or this past week's episode with Pickle Rick. Rick turns himself into a pickle to get out of family therapy.

"I Am Alive" is remixing Robo-Morty achieving self-awareness.

GAME TALK
So, after hearing fellow podcast hosts Mystakin and Weff jerk their dicks over how fucking great A Link To The Past Randomizer was, I decided to fill in some of the gaps in my Super Nintendo To Play List (since I went right from the NES to the N64). I'm having fun with it so far, and you can see my progress below:

I also beat Hotline Miami, while difficult, was way better than say Nuclear Throne of Dark Souls in the "Here's where you screwed up" category. Still, I get its reputation as "Indie Game Series Worth Checking Out".

PODCAST RECPAS FOR 9/17/2016: The Epic Crossover Event

ECHO CHAMBER EPISODE 180
-The Simpsons and classic movies:

-My Dad is a HUGE Star Wars nut, so naturally he took us to the Special Editions in '97 and The Pahntom Menace in 1999. He was talking about it all the time, so I just assumed it was a big deal. Then again, I haven't seen Captain America: Civial War yet, so it is possible to miss out on an "event" movie.

-Possible feature to add to the side:
Who Are We Throwing Our Money At?
A collection of all the people we recommend supporting through Patreon, Kickstarter, Buying All Their Shit, etc.

ECHO CHAMBER EPISODE 181
-I think adding a "Hashtag" to things is the equivalent of adding Dad to it where it worsens and cheapens whatever the word is.
#Courage- WE ARE SELLING YOU WHAT WE BELIEVE IS A COURAGEOUS MOVE
Dad Courage- I'm going to try the DOUBLE Bacon Cheeseburger
#Jokes- I am ironicaly referring to what I just said as comedy
Dad Jokes- Hi ____, I'm Dad! See also, "I know you're good, but do you want any more food?" and "You can tune a piano but you tune a fish?"
#Bod- This Instagram picture has a body in it. Somewhere. Alive?
DadBod- Not fat enough to be fat, but fat enough to show that you stopped trying.

-Super Mario Run Trailer:

-It feels... desperate that the console market is working in iterations. The main rallying point of consoles is that everything works right out of the box, and the main thrust of this console generation is that they want to be the main focus of your living room. I'm not sure what these upgrades are supposed to accomplish other than "we're making them better". Look at the "thesis" of the past couple generations:

-WiiU/Xbone/PS4: We want to own your TV. You can stream your TV through us, you can browse the internet us, we want to OWN YOUR LIVING ROOM.
-PS3/360/Wii: Online mofos!
-PS2/Xbox/Gamecube: I think we figured out this 3D shit you guys!

-Everyone plays video games. Especially during the 80's. However, a lot of what changed our perspective of video games happened after the Crash of '83. Nintendo fixed this by selling video game as Toys rather than Electronics. Toy aisles back then had were separated by gender, they picked Boys. Still, even in the early days, video games were still popular with everyone.

However, as mentioned in the podcast, then shit got complicated. FOUR buttons? SHOULDER PADS? ANOTHER one?

Where games like Halo succeeded is that they removed the "feelbads" from the game: Recharging shields, less complicated firing weapons, etc. While the controls are still ridiculous to someone who hasn't played, the game itself is more accommodating.

-Japanese Yodeling:

I'D RATHER NOT EPISODE 28

First Google Result for "Anime Owen":
http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/14600000/Owen-in-Anime-total-drama-anime-14603701-1000-1500.jpg

Though personally, I'm a fan of Powerman 5000's cover album with "Electric Avenue":

And yes, IndieGoGo.Space is an actual URL

This is BoBoBo BoBoBoBo:
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/bobobo/images/3/3e/Bo-bobobo-bobobo.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081213001602
It's about this dude who fights a tyrannical regime who wants to steal everyone's hair. BoBoBo, having a lot of hair, will NOT stand for this, so he roams the land employing his technique Hanage Shinken, or Fist Of The Nose Hair.

-The cosplay scene is verrrrry, shall we say, expansive? Like, there are cosplay models, cosplay porn, cosplay strippers, cosplay burlesque shows, and all of those exist in Florida because OF COURSE IT'S FLORIDA.

Hey Andy:

IN YOUR DREEEEEEAMS!!!!

VOICE OF ALL- HOMESICK

I play Dovin Baan, the planeswalker from Kaladesh. He was a fun voice to do. I tried to go for a British accent with some Indian influence, and while it came out well for the most part, except for the times when it slips into Irish/Scottish because I roll my R's as part of the voice I chose.

Still, SUUUUPER hyped for Kaladesh.

Episode 150: Echo Chamber GOTY Awards!

DOWNLOAD HERE!

So, I'm doing a separate post NOT on the blog, since usual those are just general things we all talk about that episode, and this GOTY stuff is more personal, so I'm going to keep that space as is.

My choices for GOTY weren't necessarily rhe ones I played the most or were the most "fun", it's the games that made want MORE. Like, despite all the meh in the AAA industry, these are the five games I'd put in a time capsule and preserve for the future:
  1. Undertale
  2. Her Story
  3. Until Dawn
  4. Rock Band 4
  5. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Edition
On the podcast I already justified my choices, and I'm not listening to something over 4 hours long.

Instead, I'm going to discuss five games I enjoyed this year, but didn't make the cut:
 https://i.ytimg.com/vi/6SnIZgESm4c/maxresdefault.jpg

1. Guitar Hero Live- aka The Other Rhythm Game That Came Out This Year. It's an accomplishment that deserves accolades that, not that we have a new Guitar Hero (there was a period around GH5 where things got SUUUUPER wonky), but that it's good AND manages to differentiate itself from the new Rock Band.

The new guitar is satisfying to play, GHTV is a great way to discover new music, and I even got a few chuckles out of the GH Live mode (seriously, who brings a sign that say YOU MAKE ME WANNA DANCE! to a concert)

It's only off the list because the direction for the future isn't as clear as RB4s, which, while Rock Band 4 has plenty of ground to make up for, Harmonix has been way more open about where they're going.

 https://media.playstation.com/is/image/SCEA/borderlands-the-handsome-collection-normal-listing-thumb-01-ps4-us-27feb15?$Icon$

2. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection- Yes, a rerelease, but a rerelease in a universe I love to pieces. The wastelands of Pandora are filled with bright colors, crazy flora and fauna, and the perfect mixture of a society past the point of no return with the logical conclusion of capitalism. Every installment brings a whole new batch of weird with new undiscovered regions, new playable chacters, and seeing how old ones returned. It's 2 AM and I just beat BL2.

https://downloads.2kgames.com/2k/staging/datastore/1430-nba2k16_bg_5.jpg

3. NBA 2K16- Spike Lee's Ghost Adventures aside,I played the SHIT out of this when I first got my Xbox One. It might go without saying, but as I played more, I got progressively better at the game and becoming a better player. Yeah, no shit, but something about the perspective of playing a single person as opposed to a whole team, changed the way I view the game, and as someone who barely touches any sports games that can't be preceded by "extreme" anything that gets me in is a bonus.

The most interesting thing though, is that there's a decent community for this game. It has a couple online modes like MyLeague and MyPark, but it's one of the most streamed Sports Games on Twitch.

As I mentioned earlier, the reason this didn't make the list despite spending so much time with it is that it's still a basketball game. A good one that has pkenty to sink your teeth into, but a basketball game nonetheless.

http://media.wizards.com/2015/images/daily/New-Puzzlequest-keyart.jpg

4. Magic The Gathering Puzzle Quest- I play this game any place where I can get internet access but it's slow as fuck and came out THE DAY we recorded this podcast, so I'm going to combine it with Magic Duels and combine this entry since I sold my soul for cardboard rectangles.

5. Shovel Knight- Came out on the Xbone this year, and it was last year's GOTY, so I'm counting it.

Echo Chamber Post Game Episode 126

The Echo Chamber
 DOWNLOAD NOW! NEWER AND SEXIER!

-FUN FACT: I was sent the raw files for "Hot Topic Is Not Punk Rock" and had to reconstitute the song using the ProTools file, and add my own distortion. Part of me wants to try and finish it for the Custom Creators Collective, but that would be disrespectful to Lars. Also, my C3 energy is better spent on the Best Song Pack Ever consisting of "Super Rad!" by The Aquabats, "Let's Dance To Joy Division" by The Wombats and "Anal Cunt" by G.G. Allin.

-"Only God can judge me"- Jeff, an atheist.

-Arcanon is working on an Adult Content pack for C3, so "Anal Cunt" by GG Allin might be a possibility.

-BUTTS

-Vocals in Rock Band were always hit or miss, and if Rock Band 4 allows for more expression, then I'm all for it.  It's really a buzzkill when, even on Easy, someone who just wants to sing karaoke fails out and is given negative feedback. No Fail Mode as the default helps a little bit, but it's crushing when a player onjly scores 50%.

"I suck! I'm never going to play again!"

There's a colloquialism in Magic The Gathering for when there's a mechanic that can be seen as discouraging to players not quite ready to handle it: "Feelbads". For a game that invites such a casual playerbase, you want to avoid as many "Feelbads" early on in a player's career as much as possible.

-Final Fantasy X: HAHAHAHA! HA HA! HAHAHA! HA HA! HA! HA!!

-Canary Mary in Banjo Tooie was regarded for being very difficult. While Mystakin and Arcanon tried to argue the best ways to tackle her, I'll be lazy and post some tips from GameFAQs:
"No-one can beat Canary Mary in less than 13 seconds (not even a giraffe) as she cheats and adapts her speed to match the player’s skill. If you play too well she always seems to win. We never did fix that one properly…" (Translation: WE DUN GOOFED!)

"The main thing to remember with Canary Mary is to keep the interval between your button presses constant" (Translation: Wicked rubberband A.I.)

"If you're into mashing the button as fast as possible, go ahead. However, if you feel like you're slowing down, press start to pause and get the blood back into your thumb... or finger or whatever (nose?). As long as you can stay ahead, it's all good" (Translation: Stop playing. Fuck this game)

The last method is one more suited to those who are a little more desperate. If you're sick of trying everything and anything and just want to finish the game 100%, buy yourself a turbo controller from an online store or your local retailer if they stock them. Turbo controllers allow the user to hold down a button and get the same effect of mashing it at an extremely fast and constant speed - perfect for beating Canary Mary. (Translation: Fuck this game, just cheat)

Also recommended:
-A spoon
-A pen
-Rock Band fret button

But, it makes sure to note that they fucked up the programming, so this won't work either.

Echo Chamber Episode 123 Post Game

WE'VE RAISED INFINITY% OF OUR KICKSTARTER GOAL

-Our Kickstarter Goal was $0, so in theory, we've made our money and so much more.

-Happy birthday Jeff!

-Luther, Anger Translator at Press Correspondents Dinner:

Colbert got in a bit of trouble at the dinner he was at because the Republicans didn't know he was a parody. Believe it or not, the laugh track and jokes the fact that it was on Comedy Central didn't tip them off. Or rather, I guess right-leaning candidates were going in expecting him to be less critical.

-Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter!
I didn't play much of Banjo-Kazooie, but I did beat all of Donkey Kong 64,and it's a wonder how I made it through all of that without achievements or anything to encourage you. Then again, I was, like, 8 when Mario 64 came out.

Mostly the reason that these kinds of games aren't made any more is threefold:
1. Metroidvania style games are more in vogue among indie developers, with their focus on exploring rather than collecting and platforming, preferring to go with one long level as opposed to several different ones.
2. Those games are seen more aimed at children, so less effort is put into them, and the excessive amounts of effort in design, objectives and gameplay found in the earlier games is lost, as to make a shorter, more profitable turnaround.
3. Games can't do one thing anymore. AAA titles cannot simply be "Shooter", "Action", "RPG", etc. In a bid to keep players playing and seem like more game than "the other guy".

-Closest thing to a Super Mario 64 skybox I could find.
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/7/76/Bob-omb_Battlefield_64.png/280px-Bob-omb_Battlefield_64.png

-Stop and Swop educational video:

-Also similar to the ice keys and eggs was the island in the Dam Mission in Goldeneye 007. It can still be seen in the main game, but has since been removed for the sake of a tighter game.

-FREE GAME IDEA: Jousting with Subway Sandwiches in the Subway on Segways. NEXT LUDUM DARE!!!

-The fictional sport I was thinking of with the trampolines and the pool of water was Kosho.
From Wikipedia:
Kosho (Old Pine Tree), a style of martial art practised in the live action television series, The Prisoner. The art in the series is far different than the real art practiced by follower of James Mitose. In the series two combatants dressed in long coats, helmets and reinforced gloves face off on opposing trampolines separated by a pool of water, all of which is surrounded by an elevated ledge and railing. All surfaces are open to use, and the art includes striking and grappling skills, as well as acrobatic manouvres. The goal is to force one's opponent into the pool.

-"Jumpin Jack Flash" from Elite Beat Agents, the best version of the song, and the best setup for any song ever.

-'Ready Steady Go" by Zebrahead cover:

-Here's the Next Generation Article I'm talking about.
It's astounding how many of those actually came out and had a gigantic impact on the system. That article was in May of 1997, before Goldeneye, Legend of Zelda, Banjo Kazooie, Super Smash Bros, F-Zero X and all the other classic games came out for the system. There were a couple Japan-only projects, hinging on the 64DD, but even in the early days it was amazing to see what was coming out for such well-remembered system, and to see what failed to manifest.

-"I don't know enough about programming!"- Mystakin, author of several Ludum Dare games.

Echo Chamber Post Game Episode 54

THIS EPISODE WILL TRICKLE DOWN FROM YOUR INTERNET TO YOUR EARS

-Thatcher x Reagan x Ayn Rand is my OT3 :) ;) ==D~

-But we all know who Thatcher's really into:

No lie, this is one catchy song, and just as applicable Stateside

-Here's the song "We've Got A Bigger Problem Now"

-Regarding the 2DS:
If it's more powerful than the regular DS and we could be getting better looking portable games, I'd be down. But the thing is, I used my old DS for a music player, and for gaming on the go. I know the rest of the Echo Crew doubted it, but a closed DSLite was among the things I'd leave the house with, along with my wallet/keys/watch combo.

On the toilet, (LET'S FACE IT , WE ALL DO IT), I use the speakers, but on the bus/train/car, I'd use headphones.

Though Jeff's "$130 Pokemon Machine" does hit the nail RIGHT on the head.

-Wow, we went from Wii U to talks about about Socialism. Why does everyone hate on Socialists? They would be a lot of fun at parties.

-To those of you even further behind, here's the SparkNotes for Animal Farm. This is a companion to our podcast as much as it is my ramblings.

-ANIMECOW IS LATE FOR SCHOOL PART 3:
As Goku and Piccilo fought Dark Sephrioth Goku the Stampede when they were going all Super Saiyan and stuff, thoughts clouded Arcanon's mind...

"This seems familiar... I remember... I remember it WITH MY BRAIN!!" he said as his swirly glasses swirled a lot and he remembered important things from last night...

AnimeCow, Arcanon and Jeff were hanging out at Arcanons house, watching game shows. It was Family Feud, and Steve Harvey was hosting. Somebody answered something really stupid and Steve Harvey wondered if it was too late to break from the contract that he signed.

"Man, are these people drunk?" asked Jeff. "I'd never drink EVER. TRUPUNX ARE STRAIGHTEDGE!!"

"You said it!" said Arcanon. "It would interfere with our studies! Which is the most important thing!"

"I thought it was developing the Mystical Power that we all conveniently have" said AnimeCow. "You know, the ones that help us defeat the Greatest Evil Known To Man?"

"No, all I have are these glasses that are swirling all the time" said Arcanon, taking off his swirly glasses. Unfortunately, he then saw a hellish landscape before him that was so horrifying I couldn't be bothered to write what it looked like. So then he put his glasses back on. "Ughh... Remind me to buy some weed from those kindgarteners tomorrow."

"Well, I have this wicked sweet beard!" said Jeff, who is 15, but has the beard because he is half 15, half 3000 year old wolf spirit.

Their attentions were turned back to the TV, where there was another episode of Family Feud on. but it was with Richard Karn, meaning it wasn't as good so they all played a round Monsters: The Dueling, the popular card game that is apparently the most important thing ever, and tried to forget that Home Improvement ever existed.

Meanwhile, Mystakin stood outside the house going "Baka Cow-chan...with his baka gameshows. NOT LIKE I WANTED TO WATCH THEM OR ANYTHING... HE WAS IN MY WAY"

Earlier that day...
"Hey, Stakin-sama! Want to watch game shows at Arcanon-senpai's house tonight?" asked Anime Cow.
"NO!" yelled Mystakin as he pushed AnimeCow into the lockers and stormed off.

Meanwhile...
Suddenly, a large buff wizard tapped Mystakin on the shoulder. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOUNG MAN?"

"Watching these gaijin watch their kawaii game shows desu! Baka Cow!"

"WHO IS THIS... COW... YOU SPEAK OF?"

"Only the biggest jerk that has the Mystical Power that can stop the greatest threat to mankind! Buttface"

"HMMM... THAT IS I, DARK SEPHIROTH GOKU THE STAMPEDE!!! THE GREATEST THREAT TO MANKIND!!!" said Dark Sephiroth Goku The Stampede, the Greatest Threat To Mankind. "AND IF I GET HIM OUT OF THE WAY... I COULD TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!"

"I... guess...?" said Mystakin, walking away. Dark Sephiroth Goku The Stampede laughed evilly as he hatched an evil plan.

After the game shows were over, the three friends went their separate ways. On his way out, Jeff found a bottle of Dewar's on the lawn outside. "Hey Arcanon! Is this yours?"

"No, I don't know who left it there! You can keep it!"

"Well, TRUPUNX ARE STRAIGHTEDGE, but I guess I'll take it home anyway!"

"I have to go get a good night's rest!" said AnimeCow. "I want to make sure I'm on time for school!"

However, when AnimeCow fell asleep that night, Dark Sephiroth Goku The Stampede snuck into his room, while he was completely unconcious and vulnerable, and adjusted his alarm clock so that AnimeCow would wake up later!

The next morning...
"Oh no! I'm late for school!" exclaimed AnimeCow as he put a piece of toast in his mouth.

And in the present, Dark Sephiroth Goku The Stampede was laying waste to the school, despite the best efforts of Goku, Piccillo, Alphonse Elric and Batman, who joined the battle while Arcanon was remembering stuff.

TO BE CONTINUED!

Status Quo Sunday Misses Deadly Premonition

On this, the day that Two Best Friends finish their Let's Play of "Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut", I give you, the good people of the internet, my latest music video, "Lord I Miss Deadly Premonition":

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Deadly Premonition, my 2010 Game Of The Year

It took a while, but I finally managed to finish it! The original song already got some coverage before, but now I made a music video of it, and maybe it'll get another go around.

BTDubs, thanks to SuperGreatFriend for his blessing on using his footage for the video, check out his LPs.

Obviously, that's what most of my efforts had gone to the past week, and next week is getting everything ready for Anime Festival Orlando, namely practicing, making travel arrangements, and getting stuff to sell.

Speaking of Anime Festival Orlando, my times for my shows have officially been announced!
I'm playing Friday Night at 10:30 PM, and Saturday Afternoon at 2:00 PM!
I'll have posters and download cards for sale for $5.

Echo Chamber Episode 35 Post Game

DEPRESSION AHOY!!!

-Dear Jeff, I hope you enjoyed your Bad Religion concert. Sincerely, Bastard

-Hulk Hogan guested on our podcast! He was talking about Andre The Giant for some reason, but it was good to have you on Hulkster!

-"American Pie" is a megasad song, but for some reason, my brain keeps going to "The Saga Begins" by Weird Al Yankovic

-Ninja Warrior will still be a thing in the U.S. That's... something.
I wonder how the original Ninja Warrior series (Sasuke) is broadcasted in Japan. I know the version that aired on G4 only put up select competitors and didn't show everybody, but I anticipate the American Version will have commercials out the ass and a break after every competitor filled with sap stories on select ones, stretching this shit out to the point of damn near unwatchable.

-With my job situation changing, I might work on the Echo Chamber video game. I drew up some sprites, and if I find the original sheet, I might be able to HD-ify them.

Echo Chamber Post Game Episode 24

So if you lookin' for some ho's
Now you know where to go
Drop down to the flo'
An go to the likasto
Likasto Likasto
Lika lika likasto

Here's my Top 5 Of The Past Year for comparison sake.
5. Minecraft (XBLA)- I haven't given this game a shot since just this year, and now I regret both the time I wasted not playing this and the hours I've wasted playing it since downloading it. My main motivation for getting was really just to have something to play when I want to relax on the couch. You can play around with it for 5 nminutes or five hours and still do something even if its just clearing out some dirt or putting some sand in a furnace to make glass. I'm a huge fan of glass structures.

4. Rock Band Blitz (XBOX 360)- More than anything, this is the game that still gets me to buy Rock Band DLC: I don't need to break out my instruments, I can do everything at once, and like my choice for #2, my friends and the "OK, NOW I know what to do" makes this the second biggest time waster on the XBLA.

3. FTL: Faster Than Light (PC)-Dear Jesse, I love you, but goddamn it this fucking game. I'm not big on strategy games, but this one is just action-y enough and reminds me of all those Flash Games I waste my time on where you can upgrade stuff, and yeah. FTL.

2. Trials Evolution (XBLA)- I've spent hours on this game and I haven't even gotten on to the level editor yet. It's a very simple premise: just get to the end of the level. But the difficulty increases so slowly that you actually need to get better at it, and when you go back to the earlier levels it's like "Wait, how did I fail so hard at this?". The allure of the perfect run always keeps me coming back for more, and I've seen some people do amazing downloadable tracks all for FREE.

1. The Walking Dead (XBLA)- If I wanted an easily accessible example as to why video games can add to a narrative, this is what I'd give them. I talked about it in the past before, but this is just a gentle reminder.

Echo Chamber Podcast Post Game Podcast 18

DOWNLOAD AND DONATE 5 OZONEBUX TO THE ARCANON DROPKICK FUND

This was probably the most funnest episode we did in a while!

-THE AWESOME FANTASY!!!

-THE DISAPPOINTING REALITY!!!

-This was another one where as SOON as we went off, I thought off a dozen more, but those were all video game related, and while we did bring up the Halo Theme at the end, it was mostly songs heard in 30 seconds. And to be honest, it's not that memorable to me, at least because I always skip the intros and stuff. But it is a point to make in the "Video Game Theme" episode: Not a lot of earworms in modern gaming. Halo has a good theme, BUT that will not stick in your head the same way anything from the 8 or 16 bit era would. Not to say the games are "scored" these days are to its disadvantage, far from it. However, a "score" and a "theme" are two different things.

-Back to the topic, a "theme" sets the scene for the TV show. A lot of shows these days don't really do that, instead co-opting another song. "Community" is a fucking amazing show, but it's song has not a lot to do with the show itself. Contrast that with "The Big Bang Theory", while I do not enjoy the show itself, the theme by The Barenaked Ladies sums up the show quite well: Science, more science, and friends that all game together because an invisible skyman of events that followed the Big Bang.

-However, the Pysch theme is one of those awesome little coincidences (It's about a guy posing as a psychic detective to solve crimes)

And let's face, the show is pretty damn awesome.
