WHEW, LET'S GET SOME SHIT OUT OF THE WAY!
Not that I haven't been active, I've just been busy, and the site just works as an aggregate of what I've been up to, and since I've been flying by the seat of my pants for a lot of it, I haven't focused on the site as much. A lot has happened since the Spring Update video, and I will share it all with you...
ULTRACON 2019!
This was the return of Ultracon after a couple years, coming back to the MACC. It had a great turnout, even though the layout wasn't that good, with panels on a top floor where other events went on at the same time, and the dealer's room was on the bottom floor.
Thankfully, I was helping run ULTRAMANIA! on the same floor right before my event.
I made a lot of new fans that show, but like Omni Expo, I hope it can learn to use its space better.
BASTARDMOBILE STREAM!
So a couple weeks ago I ran a 12 hour stream to raise money to help fix my car. To recap:
1. A bunch of friends and fans were eager to help me out in a time where I could use some help
2. I organized a big event with minor technical fuckups.
3. I put on a damn good concert
4. I made Twitch Affiliate.
So there was a broad swath of games, and a broad swath of guests, and here's the recap of the schedule:
12:00 - 1:00 PM - Fallout New Vegas w/ Steven from S15 Costuming
1:00 - 3:00 PM - Torchlight 2 w/ RPG Pals Club
3:00 - 4:00 PM - MTG: Arena w/ WeffJebster
4:00 - 5:00 PM - Dicey Dungeons w/ Hupfen
5:00 - 6:30 PM - Diddy Kong Racing w/ Ben Briggs
6:30 - 7:30 PM - Sunset Overdrive w/ John GM
Concert at 8
Halo and Rock Band 4 Open play afterwards
Special thanks to everyone who watched and everyone who came on to play!
I really want to do another one sometime in a couple months just for a "Hey, let's build a warchest and hangout with all these cool people I know"
MIZUCON PLANS!
So far it's just Mizu-Mania on Monday, but we are working hard to bring you an excellent event! It will be on the main stage, and since we've got a couple of these under our belt, we can deliver high impact digital wrestling action with MINIMAL technical fuck ups!
JAM OF THE... WEEK? "Rose Colored Boy" by Paramore
So, new Paramore kinda rules actually? More poppy, and apparently they don't want to play "Misery Business" anymore, but who cares?
Hayley Williams's acting in this REALLY sells the story as she becomes more and more detached and disinterested with each segment of this cheesy 80's news show. "Rose Colored Boy" is also about a rarely expressed sentiment: "No, I'm not happy, and fuck you for thinking I could just get over it"

Status Quo Sunday Is Going To Conventions!
NEW SONG: "Preacher Of Lonely Street"
The Goon, one of my favorite comic series is back! In Comic Form! So now the song is on YouTube and Soundcloud and all o dat!
Youtube:
Soundcloud:
UPCOMING CONS!
As you may have seen on the sidebar, I have a couple new cons on the horizon:
Ultracon Of South Florida! (April 12th-14th, 2019)

This was a con that's been away for a bit, but now it's back! I'm not sure what else is on the schedule yet, but if you're a collector, it's a really good con for that since the dude that runs it is notroious for having a big G.I. Joe Collection.
Mizucon! (May 26th-27th, 2019)

Mizucon I've had a lot of good times at in the past, but they went away last year, and are now under new management, some of whom are from Anime Iwai. There's a lot I can't confirm yet, except that I do know they will give me a show, and another panel that we're going to bring back!
Hint: Mega Ran was part of it.
Other Convention I've Never Played Before!
For an audience I never played before!
PAX EAST HYPE!
What am I looking forward to?

PAX East Rumble! It's a royal rumble at PAX East! It will be an absolute clusterfuck.

DJ Roborob! All his stuff! He, Ben Briggs and other friends are going to be at the Jamspace at 10 PM on Saturday for a big VGM Dance Party!

The Improvised Post Mortem! Pat Baer is always good for an entertaining time, and he brings some improv fun times to PAX East in one of my favorite panels in any con ever. The premise is simple: Given a game title, these people make up a game and how it could have gone better/worse.
JAM OF THE WEEK: "Tempted" by Squeeze
This song is my goddamn white whale in Rock Band 4. I have YET TO FULL COMBO IT!
But it's a nice song.

Omni Expo Recap And What To See Soon
Geek Tank did an incredible interview with me at Omni Fandom Expo this weekend! Very in-depth and if you want to
We talk about:
-My music
-My process
-The 3000 Brigade
-Resident Evil
-Alt-Right Incel Lucas Baker
-Capitalism interference in Nerdery
AND SO MUCH MORE!!!
So. Omni Fandom Expo was pretty good! The concert, despite some sound issues, went well! Thanks to the crew behind Geek Tank and Roy from Omni Expo's staff for helping me out!
Part of the difficulty came from not wanting to be a dick during Paul St. Peter's voice acting panel, which was pretty good. I've seen him at a lot of local Florida cons, and while he's not SUPER prolific, the few panels I've seen him in have been a good time, and worth seeing.
Since I've had a lot of downtime, here's the skinny on what to expect:
Saturday, March 23rd- I'll be at the Mizucon Beach Party!
Sunday, March 24th- Status Quo Sunday with a new song made public, and a look forward at PAX East
April- More details on my show at Ultracon!

Status Quo Wednesday Has A Personality Crisis
IT'S COMING!
ULTRACON RECAP!
Eh... I've usually had bad luck with Ultracon, and it kinda continued this weekend in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. I only went on Sunday because I assumed I had a work thing, but because of aforementioned hurricane, work thing got cancelled.
By Sunday everything was dead, so instead I held a little mini-show and walked around with my guitar/mini-amp rig. It was all right, but again, Sunday wasn't very busy. Hopefully Ultracon fills out this space better next year.
THIS WEEK'S JAM
I've been looking toward early protopunk to get help with the song for Kaladesh, and how can I forget this fucking barnburner I first heard in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith? You;d imagine these early punk groups to not have as much bombast as they do, but here we are, guitars, pianos and David Johnansen's vocals are out in full force.
FUTURE CONS
My last two cons of the year are Anime Iwai and Holiday Matsuri. Anime Iwai is basically Chibi Pa 2.0, and the people that work there behind the scenes are pretty cool, so it's bound to be a Good Time.

Holiday Matsuri was a big surprise last year, because it's on the cusp of becoming a big name con like Supercon and MegaCon, but it's still small enough that you can get around easily. My show slot is not very good, but I'll still enjoy myself regardless.
YO DICKBUTT, WITH ALL THESE CONS, WHERE'S YOUR RECAP VIDEOS?
It's next on the list, right after "The Inventor's Fair" is uploaded.

Status Quo Wednesday Is On El Radio
ULTRACON!

This was kind of out of nowhere (got the announcement last week?), and I won't be there on Saturday, but how can I turn down a show on the 1 year anniversary of Status Quo Radio?
Last year, the rooms got shuffled around and I wasn't able to get a show, hopefully the hurricane doesn't fuck with things.
THIS WEEK''S JAM:
Todd in the Shadows covered this on a recent episode of his series "One Hit Wonderland", and despite his opinion of song, I was into it when he did a piano rendition in the intro. The original version is right in that spot of more punk-y new wave, but Authority Zero did a version with the energy and bounce that I was looking for in the song.
1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF STATUS QUO RADIO
Status Quo Radio is out there. It took me 5 years from a concept of a Team Fortress 2 album to what we have today. It was this project that as it went along, I added more to it: my frustrations, my fears, my politics, and while I can still say it was influenced by the video game, it's not so obvious you could play on Nerdist as "#EPIC Team Fortress Song!", it'd get big for a week, and then fade out. That's not what I want.
I'm not a hack like Brentalfloss or Natewantstobattle* where I'm compelled to do something based on the HOT NEW THING because it's already an effort to bring myself to work on music in the first place because, hey, I went and got myself a real job and my free time is trying to hold on to my will to go in tomorrow. Since I can't be relevant, I'll work on being good.
Looking ahead, I'm still going to make music of course, and do the Magic The Gathering songs, and everything else, but I don't know if I can bring myself to do an album without a "point".
But for now, I'll be proud. I'll be thankful for DJ Roborob, who I met by chance at Omni Expo 2 years ago, and was a great partner in mixing, mastering, and getting this thing finished.
I'll be thankful for Arcanon who did the drums for a few songs and helped make the beats that much better.
I'll be thankful for David, Jesse, Rhythm Dadstard, who contributed vocals.
I'll be thankful for anyone who listened and liked it.
Thank you!
*No disrespect, both are very talented and most certainly not hacks, but I'm trying to get some heel heat.

Status Quo Wednesday Is Now PLAYING WITH POWER!
Would have had this out on time, but I was laid up in bed sick, and then had to take care of some buillshit errands, where I then went straight to bed.
CON TIME!!!
Palmconnnn!
Wasn't as busy as last year, but those who did come and see me around were a great audience! My first time playing at Palmcon, and I caught up with a lot of old friends. Apparently I'm a very swole gentleman, because I was reminded of that a lot.
Didn't go too crazy with spending, but I did get a Lego Taskmaster minifig. Cause I fucking love Taskmaster.
Quick shout out to Grifter's Custom Creations, who I haven't seen in a long-ass time, and helped run the booth for a local costume shop.
ULTRACON SHOW OUTTA NOWHERE?!?!?
Won't be able to make it Saturday due to work stuff, but I will be playing Sunday at 1 PM. Believe it or not, as long as I've been playing shows in Florida, and as many times as I've been at the MACC, I've never attended a con that used the lower levels, so I'm curious to see how it all pans out.
THIS WEEK'S JAM:
|I think I found a WWE theme I love more than Shinsuke Nakamura's. It's very reminiscent of Dr. Wily's theme from Mega Man 2, but that was a fucking awesome song.
You guys don't get it: This is so good, it makes me want to go and watch the Cruiserweight Classic, just to see if TJ Perkins is as awesome as his theme song.
THE NINTENDO 64 AT 20?!?!?

We're probablyt going to discuss this on next week's Echo Chamber, but yeah!
This was the first system I bought with my own money, since I inherited my older brother's NES, and was too young for a Super Nintendo.
My first 3 games were:
Super Mario 64- Still a game I go back to occasionally. Not one bad level, and I have speedruns of this game on when I go to sleep.
Mario Kart 64- Another game I love to revisit, and a stellar soundtrack.
Crusin USA- ... Fuck you, I didn't want to crowd around this game in the arcades.
I remember renting all kinds of games from the local West Coast Video depending on what was featured in that month's Nintendo Power. Some good, some bad, some I'm hunting down at every convention.

Status Quo Sunday vs. The Eldrazi
This week's jam:
NEW SONG! "Attack On Eldrazi", inspired by the new Battle For Zendikar set. I took a lot of cues from The Aquabats! especially the “Floating Eye Of Death!” era.
This lovely art work is made by @godbirds! He was great to work with and you can also follow him on @ciphir and get more MtG-based doodles!
Here’s my other MTG songs:
“Hunting Bigger Game” (Magic 2015)
“Force Of Dragons” (Khans Of Tarkir)
“Change The War” (Fate Reforged)
“Unbroken” (Dragons of Tarkir)
ULTRACON! Didn't play. Some stuff got shifted around, leaving only one panel room, and I got shifted out of a time slot.
I still had fun, and I helped run a panel with Just Guys Playing Games. Inspired by PAXAMANIA and The PAX Rumble, me and JGPG held a rumble of our own, where we held a tournament on WWF's No Mercy on the N64, winner getting a free Luchador mask. I wish it was a little better attended, but we managed to get a full 4 player game going, and were able to crown a winner!
OTHER STUFF I DID!
-Ultimate Championship Wrestling and a game of Zombies! at the same time. I wish I was in the crowd, marking it up like a mofo, but even with my influence, the crowd was only sorta into it. The people affiliated with this were also part of Florida Super Championship Wrestling, but that was closed down by the con that they originally worked with.
It's VGCW IRL, and it was fun to watch. I hope to see it develop/go on more regularly than once a year.
-An Epic game of Epic with the people from ConJunkie. Thankfully two of the people I played against were familiar with MTG. The e-mail for my Champion Tier card came in, and all these games I've been playing have given me an idea of what cards I like, and what I want to have on my card.
-Buying lots of shit, primarily a sweet set of MTG inspired coasters from Nookingtons and a carved wooden deckbox courtesy of Altruistic., which in doing my research for this, also has a Taskmaster Cosplay replica shield.
SO WHAT DID YOU THINK?
Better than last year, for sure. It did feel empty because of the size upgrade and the fact there are two other cons that same weekend, but if the con can stay at this level of quality on a better weekend (since Chibi Pa was last week in the same area, and Megacon had an event the same day), it can start to grow.
WHAT'S NEXT?
For one, the recap videos to these things, also getting the work done for physical copies of Status Quo Radio. I have some new songs in various stages, so hopefully I can get a lot of work done with the Holiday Weekend. With me, the problem is I get overwhelmed with how much I want to do.
Oh well, see you next week!

Status Quo Sunday Fest Presented by Ultracon
This week's jam:
A.K.A. Gang Beasts in music video form.
This week was another 10/4 week for me, so while I had the extra day off, unfortunately, I still had a busy weekend.
BUT FIRST "YO RB WHATCHA GOT?"
ALBUM UPDATE-
Two songs to go! Really, only one song to finish writing and one song to re-record. Also finishing my Dragons of Tarkir song which leads me to....
DTK Prerelease! Went 3-1, going with a White/Blue flyers deck. Some MVPs:
-Misthoof Kirin: A 3/2 flier with vigilance that you can play as a morph for 3, and then turn up for only 2 mana, which enbables you to also play...
-Palace Familiar: 1/1, Flying, for 1 and a blue, AND when it dies, you draw a card? Definitely worth drafting. Small fliers, cheap blockers and even cheaper draw is WORTH IT!
-Illusory Gains: Control a creature, then control the next creature that comes out? Really took to this one, since there were a few games where my opponent didn't want to cast anything else, in the event that I'll control that too.
KICKSTARTER...?
Right now, the plan is to focus on finishing the album, then worry about the Kickstarter. So, nothing has been set forward with that yet.
UPCOMING CONS?
Good news everyone!
Miami Hurricon is coming up VERY soon, April 4th!
Ultracon has been moved to July, making me 100% FREE to do Omni Expo!
Ultracon and Hero Hype Con are not confirmed yet, but I should be hearing back from them soon.
In the next couple days, I'll be updating the site with times and whatnot.
OH YEAH, I DID GEEKFEST!
I didn't have a show at GeekFest, but the card was pretty full, and any place with a stage was too crowded. I DID take pictures, and that video will come soon once my workload is a little lighter. Under Ultracon's wing, it took a big step up from where it was in 2013, but still kept it nice and manageable.
I'd be remiss to not to shout out that I met up with Zach of ZifProd, who recorded my Chibi Pa Concert:

Status Quo Sunday's Ten Lessons Learned.
Album's going strong, a little ahead of the game, so, let's look back 2014!
Cesaro's on RAW and he's talking about how-
Oh, right. Um, something relevant... OK-
MY TOP 10 (IN NO ORDER) CONVENTIONS OF 2014! (and the lessons learned)
1. Sands Of Anime
Location is everything. It was by this really nice, beautiful beach, and with some time, it could be a destination con, ala Umicon Daytona. But, they also put the music act opposite the voice actor panels. And the merch tables were out of the way.
2. Miami Hurricon
BRING A FUCKING MIC STAND.
3. Omni Expo
Never underestimate the power of a good connection. I met up with a lot of people there, who I would go on to work with and become good friends with, such as the guys from Orlando Nerd Fest and Sci-Fried, DJ RoboRob (who's producing Status Quo Radio), and Geekapella.
Also, KNOW WHAT DATES OTHER THINGS ARE AT.
4. Hero Hype Con
Learning from your mistakes. Hero Hype Con picked up the slack, and knowing what to expect and being prepared for anything, let me perform better. Also, I got a really sweet spot, before the cosplay competition.
5. Anime Festival Orlando
You don't need to hustle 100%. I feel like I need to at these things, but I was having way more fun once I settled down and played some Magic The Gathering. Really, A LOT of Magic The Gathering, lol. My concert went well, but again, cons are supposed to be fun, and I don't have to be on the clock.
6. Creator Owned Expo
Supporting the little guy feels really good, and as I'm watching RAW, it reminds me of the benefit of putting guys over. Which they don't do on RAW. Be like Ron (Kerronian, head of COE), not RAW.
7. Orlando Nerd Fest
Hard work feels great when it pays off. Like Creator Owned Expo, it feels really good putting guys over, and when that person does the same to you (like what MC Lars did to me), the feeling is euphoric.
8. Umicon Music Initative
Act like you never made a mistake. A string broke, I was inbetween two other acts, and I only had so much time left. I just translated everything and went along with it, and became EVEN MORE OF A DORK.
AARON DISMUKE, I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!!!
9. Chibi Pa: Suki Desu
Putting the artists alley infront of the Dealer's Room is a REALLY smart idea, and it's almost TOO obvious to think of.
I was also going to put something here about good turns deserving another, as when I lent my amp to the staff to borrow for an event, fate rewarded me with Andrew from S.S. Hanami helping me out on drums, but con organizers should also take note of this list.
10. UltraCon
Putting the panels and what times they're at RIGHT OUTSIDE THE PANEL ROOMS is another REALLY good idea.
But, there's also another bonus lesson here: Know your limits. I'm not at the point where I'm marketable enough yet to where I can sell merch at cons via table. I'm a hard sell; original content in an environment based off of fandom.
So I'm going to be less aggressive in trying to snag cons this year. I'm definitely not quitting, but I'm not going to shotgun everything, and waste money on tables and stuff like that. I might even try to snag some small shows on Clematis Street, like a REAL musician.
It's a big world out there, and 2015 is going to be a big year.
Huh, my birthday's on a Sunday this year....

SQS: Status, Quos and Sundays
TLC has been pretty meh. Then Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose had to have their crazy-off.
This week, I WAS NUMBER ONE ON REVERBNATION (rock bands in Palm Beach, FL) (for a couple of days)
Ultracon Good News: #SoFloConBros, as always. Bought a Luchador mask, and I'm now giving up music to seek out the Lucha Way.
Ultracon Bad News: Due to shenanigans (which were mostly my fault), I didn't have a set time or place, and that did put a damper on things. Spent $125 on a table when there was so much other cool stuff to go around. And the Magic The Gathering Drafts didn't fire off.
Also, the Lucha Way doesn't pay that well.
I don't want to crap on Ultracon as an event, mind you. The South Florida Con scene has a lot of good friends, and a lot of cool people, and Irving was a great guy. Some interesting panels went on, plenty of good dealers, and I got to guest ref World Foam League. When he said he didn't have a time/place for me, he said, "Whenever, Wherever". The phrase I would use was "unfortunate".
Unfortunate for Ultracon, Holiday Matsuri was a little ways north. How much business one took away from the other, I can't really say. They're separated by over 3 hours on the I-95. I don't think it was as bad as Omni Expo/Florida Anime Experience taking place the exact same weekend. In Orlando.
But. let's talk about some of the good:
Aforementioned Lucha Mask- It's like the bastard child of Bane and Taskmaster.
IndieBox- I bought one of their games and did an unboxing, which will be up this week sometime. Basically, you pay every month, and they send you an indie game, a little cartridge (DRM FREE) with the game on it, a steam key, a soundtrack, and various other goodies. You can even buy past boxes! All the cool nerdy stuff of LootCrate, while supporting the little guy!
The Pow Wow Show- Thanks to them, I had a show this weekend!
World Foam League- Basically, LARP meets WWE. I was a guest ref for their event at UltraCon. The setup was less than ideal, as was the time (right against the cosplay competition), but with that kind of experience, it'll become a really interesting production. They have other chapters opening up, and it does have room to get bigger and better.
Now onto album stuff:
The ink on the album cover is just about dry, and it's going out to the mailing list people first, and I'll put it up on the site. Since I have little left in the way of cons, the next hurdle is getting the KickStarter set up, while working on the rest of the album.
More next week, while I'll try to write up one post a week until Christmas.

Ultra Status Quo Sunday
ULTRACON OF SOUTH FLORIDA THIS SUNDAY!
There's going to be a lot of awesome guests there, like:
-Larry Hama, THE ORIGINAL CREATOR OF G.I. JOE!
-Steve Cardenas, THE ORIGINAL RED RANGER FROM MIGHT MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS!
-Larry Mainland, from THE WALKING DEAD
-RHYTHM BASTAR- oh wait that's me...
END OF THE LINE IS OUT!!!
Really solid animation. I've always wanted to make an SFM Music Video for "Boston Boom Bringer" or "Gang Of Nine", since people are doing absolutely incredible things with it.
I'm getting this spare PC I found up and running, and so far, it runs TF2 with no hiccups. It's a desktop, and is more powerful than my laptop, so I'll be using that more for production and gaming, and my laptop will be relegated to tour-mate, since the Wi-Fi on it has been busted for a while.
Regarding the album, THE COVER IS FINISHED, I REPEAT, THE COVER IS FINISHED.
Yeah, plenty of good stuff all around. Granted, there's been plenty of not so good news this week, with killer cops getting off the hook left and right, but at least it gives me the opportunity to post up this nugget from the Dead Kennedys:
There is still hope, as we, as a society, are more and more willing to call out this bullshit.
Anytime someone says "Not all cops...""But a black guy shot a white guy this one time...""ALL lives matter!", etc., remind them that this still goes on, and by making it about them, they're enabling this crap to continue.
