The Status Quo Is Bullshit, Travel More

DUMPING GROUND FOR SAD NEWS ARTICLES
Shit, this was where I'd put links to all the news coverage of people protesting pride parades, that one where that far right militia got caught, anything that idiot Ron DeSantis has done, and drag events interrupted everywhere because neanderthals are more concerned with the children they both live vicariously through AND treat as property are going to be "traumatized" when we all know damn well that their WASP Mom and Dad are showing up to every school board meeting to bitch about "CTR" or whatever they heard from Newsmax or some shit.

Anyway my fellow queers, get a gun.

N.B. I didn't release this last week, since I was waiting on getting back from AFO, but reading the Roe V. Wade shit, castrate any and all Pro-Forced Birth Man, knock up their daughters, mothers and wives, and then set them on fire at the 4th of July party and say it was a Fireworks Accident.

PRE-ORDER HARDCORE NERDCORE PUNK ROCK!

FWA RECAP

My show was at 8:30 PM in one of the panel rooms, which wasn't NECESSARILY the worst thing, but uh...

i wasn't sure i'd have a mic until 20 minutes before the show

and i didn't have a mic stand

So, I had to have one of my friends hold the mic while I played, and it WORKED. It gave the show more of a punk rock feel, and people even VOLUNTEERED to hold it! Still not ideal, but it just goes to show that my strength as a performer is to be able to improvise with what I've got, and NEVER give up. I put on a DAMN GOOD show regardless!

I just hope next year everything's sorted out, and I can get me some MAIN STAGE time!

Also I met up with a couple artists I've only contacted with through Twitter!

OTHER PANELS I WENT TO!
STEM Meetup- Now, this is a type of panel I don't normally see at other cons I usually play at, and it was nice to have something that's more or less for ADULTS. Not an 18+ up panel, but just a panel that doesn't make me feel like an old man. Met a lot of cool people there, and did get to learn from others who are in varying specializations and points in their careers

Cassidy The Civet's Concert- She's been doing a lot of cons, and I finally managed to catch one of her shows. She has great voice, but her set was mostly did Eurovision covers, so I couldn't quite get a good idea of her sound.

Survifur: FWA- Yes, it's a dumb pun, but it was an interesting competition, even if the stakes aren't a million dollar cash prize. It was also run by Cassidy the Civet!

Cut Content Panel- This one was run by one of HELLBREAKFAST's Friends and it was about cut content and the like in retro games. It covered a lot of ground in mostly NES-era games, but I can see how someone can get LOST datamining these older titles and how it helps us all better understand how they're put together. They're hard to make, even back then.

Anyway, 10/10 would go again if I had a mic stand. Between this and MAGFest, I'm starting to shy away from the smaller anime cons in my area and am trying to aim higher, or at least more specific. The crowd there are more passionate, and are more eager to share and create, rather than consume. It's cynical at my age, but I found a con that I 100% vibe with.

Furry cons are Ren Faires mixed with Pride Parades. That was my go to shorthand anytime any one asked what was going on, so take that nugget of wisdom with you!

 ANIME FESTIVAL ORLANDO RECAP!

This one I was 1000% better prepared for, since I... could bring stuff. I also debuted "Run Over Ronnie", and given that my show was on the same day a bunch of old crackers decided they were the coochie boss, the crowd was 100000% behind it.

It's a live staple alongside Fuck Terfs!

Also I had a merch set up, and even though it was out of the way, A LOT of people came through and picked up a shirt!

NEW MERCH: FUCK TERFS SHIRT

Given section 1, you all deserve something for Pride month going into Wrath month.

Honestly it was about time, and I FINALLY decided to it. I do have a copy of this shirt myself, and have worn it to the gym several times.

RPG PALS CLUB ON ITCH.IO

This is the PUBLIC release of the RPG Pals Club Visual Novel I've been working on! Currently it's in Godot, but eventually I might transport it over to something where I have a little more freedom to do whatever.

Right now this is the first 3 "Acts" of Episode 1. Each episode will have 5 "Acts", and I'm writing the fifth one right now. When? I dunno.

JAM OF THE WEEK: "Stop, Drop, Roll" by Can't Stop Won't Stop

So "The Bad Guys", the Furry Movie Of The Moment, came out on DVD on 6/21.

They fucking knew.

Regardless, the movie itself was an enjoyable watch. The plot, although predictable, was charming enough so that I was along for the ride, the animation style was slick, and the voice acting was done, not by big name celebrities, but character actors!

What kicked off the movie, was this big car chase set to this song, "Stop Drop Roll" by Can't Stop Won't Stop. It's not an easily recognizable pop song, it's funky and the action syncs up to the beats well. Even in small moments like a sharp turn, or when the crew buckles their seatbelts.

Funk is one of those genres I've never sought out, but I always enjoyed when it's on, because musically it's so interesting. Layers on layers on layers, AND there's rapping. Nothing concrete thematically, more like "Scenario" by Tribe Called Quest where it's rappers flexing. Again, nothing terrible impressive, and it all flows the same, but fuck it, I still had fun.

Status Quo Sunday Is Up To 500 Posts

First the absolutely crushing news: My audio interface has been giving me some problems, so I have to send it back to Focusrite to get it fixed OR get a new one. This past paycheck was the one I use to pay all of my bills, so it'll be two weeks before I can afford another one.

Then the OK news: This doesn't affect anything I recorded, but I can't use Studio One. I can, however, import all the tracks I have recorded into Reaper so I can get a new song up in the meantime.

Finally, the best news: Since I don't have it ready today, the new song will be given to the mailing list people first, AND a free CD and poster will be given away to one lucky subscriber! Song goes out this Saturday at midnight, so be sure to sign up to get in on it.

Since this is a big posts, and people are idiots, here's a couple of my biggest milestones in what I feel to be the history of the site:

1. Releasing "Dino Hunter MD: The Sound Track"
It was something I did for some of my best friends, for something I was proud to be a part of, and something I followed through with until the end. It was hard, but I learned a lot of lessons for "Status Quo Radio"

2. My first convention gig at I-Con, which led to my first bit of music being played in a podcast
Even though they do regular podcasts sparingly, I still loves me some Rag-Nerd-Rok.
Also, they're trying to reboot it, so donate via IndieGoGo!

3. Getting my music featured in a game

4. My first ever interview! (2:00)

5. The one time Complex Magazine pimped out my song, "Lord I Miss Deadly Premonition"

6. The one time the TF2 Subreddit loved the shit out of my song "Boston Boom Bringer"

7. The one time the Two Best Friends Play subreddit loved the shit out of my song "Fahrenhype"

8. Being a part of the awesomest podcast evar!!!

9. ALL THE FLORIDA CONVENTIONS (SO FAR)!

Still many more to list, so if I forgot any, let me know in the comments section that's totally here.

Now, let's take a look back and what everyone who stumbled through on Google decided were my best posts:
10.  Echo Chamber Post Game Episode 52
I don't know what it is about this episode, but- Oh... the first episode of "Anime Cow Is Late For School"

9. Discussion Topic: Gradual vs. Tier
A brief write up I did of budgeting Rock Band Network royalties... Interesting...

8. STATE OF THE BASTARD ADDRESS 2013
The most recent State Of The Bastard Address. It's like Status Quo Sunday, only more WHOA! Because I have a whole year, you see...

7.  Status Quo Sunday Gets Back From OMFG at AFO and listens to AFI
What folloooows... Is a compilation of AFI's early releases and my impressions of the biggest convention I've been to so far (aside from PAX East)

6. My Greatest Moments In Rock Band
A few little vignettes about some good times I had playing on plastic instruments.

5. YOUTUBE PARTY PARTY HARD!!!
A.K.A. Random videos that had stuff I did in them intersperse with other stuff so I don't look like a braggart.

4. The Great Plastic Guitar Gig In The Sky
A post-mortem on the Guitar Hero series. I have one for my Tony Hawk feelz, but it didn't make the Top 10. SORRY.

3. Todd In The Shadows: Best Pop Songs of 2010
Something that I linked to that features someone who is constantly googled.

2. REPOST: Cee Lo Green Coming To Rock Band
Me trollin' people. Not doing to good at it. At least I got some hits?

1. Guitar Hero Arcade Setlist
AKA My Speculations, Followed by Actual News. CERTAINLY NOT UNDERWHELMING AT ALL

AHHH THE MEMORIES...

So, what does the future hold?
-Album Number 2, "Status Quo Radio". I'm looking at my options for mastering it, and trying to get a budget together so I can put out a Kickstarter.

-More conventions and shows! Florida's equivalent of Williamsburg is only a 10 minute drive away, so if I can score some shows there, I will.

-I'm going to be streaming again! This Wednesday, 8 PM, either The Walking Dead: 400 Days or Fables: The Wolf Among Us.

See you all next week, hopefully with some better news.

This Article On PalmCon Was A Sorta Depressing Thing

This article has been making its rounds on my Facebook lately.

Mike of Florida SuperCon does do a pretty good breakdown, and really hits the nail on the head.

To summarize, a journalist goes to PalmCon, and breaks it down, citing low attendence, and how horrible the costumes were, and etc. Basically, this is a grown woman acting like a child:
"I had sort-of high hopes for my first comic book convention -- not because I like comics (ew) but because I really love dumb hats and costumes... That said, some people there were having a lot of fun. I don't understand it -- but hey, I really wish stacks of old Duck Tales comics were enough to shake me from my jadedness and misery. "

PalmCon, along with a lot of the cons down here in Florida, aren't as big as SDCC or NYCC, true, but cons down here in Florida are experiences, treks, fun things to do for a day or over the weekend. You buy a ticket, hang out with like minded nerds, then walk off grounds to get a bite to eat at a local fast food joint or Starbucks, and come back for all the 18+ panels.

They're about FUN, something the author of the article refused to have, lest she ruin whatever cred working for a local news blog has.

I believe our friends Suburban Legends have some words of wisdom:

I'm reminded of a similar story, when a journalist from Gawker wrote up a story on dating a pro Magic: The Gathering player via OKCupid.

Reading back, it was nowhere near as cynical or hateful I remembered it being, but that caused a bit of a shitstorm in its day. The Gawker article could be interpreted as, "Hey, if you have a hobby that takes up a good chunk of time and money, let someone know, as it's important in a relationship", the PalmCon article was like "This is lame and boring, I don't care, hahaha"

What I'm saying is, don't be a hater (cuz haters are so nasty) and make any threats or call her out on her looks or anything like that.

Call her out for her terrible attitude, call out the publication for letting run, because that's the only way they'll get better.

Though, $4 almonds PalmCon? REALLY?

Status Quo Sunday Gets Ready To Ride The Lightning

As always, after a con, the next week is sending out e-mails and putting together videos and whatnot.

SUCH AS:

Again, big ups to Nat of S.S. Hanami for recording it all.

What did I accomplish this week?
-Getting a mailing list started up again. Just submit your e-mail at the sidebar!
Once I get a few more subscribers, I'll start giving away stuff.
-Writing some songs! It's a lot faster and a lot heavier than what I've been working on before.
Since I don't have any conventions for at least another couple weeks, I can put some time in. One is for the album, the other because fuck you I'm in artist I can do what I want.
-Watching WWE Night Of Champions. Rob Van Dam just won via DQ, but still lost the belt to Alberto Del Rio. For a guy in his 40s, RVD is surprisingly spry.
-Watching 2 Best Friends Play... Right now, I'm typing this to the sounds of them playing Eternal Darkness.
-Contacting more conventions, so I can squeeze one more in by the end of the year, otherwise, my next one is Sands of Anime in Cocoa Beach. There's a couple south of me in the next couple months.

What do I hope to get done this week?
-Land one of said conventions.
-See how all of tonight's events unfold on WWERaw tomorrow night.
-Theros PreRelease
-Finish one of said songs.
-Hit up PalmCon and Network.

That's this week's Status Quo! Now AMSCRAY. Daniel Bryan's facing Orton for the WWE Champeenship.

Status Quo Sunday Is Now In Effect

I figured while I book conventions and reviews to promote "Dino Hunter MD: The Sound Track", I'll give an update on this project you've been hearing about occasionally called "Status Quo Radio", and in fact every Sunday, just so you all can remind me of it.

Recently, my laptop's HD had to finally be taken out of its misery (seriously, I couldn't use my laptop keyboard, then I couldn't use a USB keyboard, and I had to get a new HD), so today I've been setting everything up again. As long as I have mydrumsetrocks (free Drum VST), TH2 (guitar amp sim VST) and Nectar (vocal VST) with RX2 Denoiser, then I'm good.

So today was spent getting everything back in order. I don't have Ableton Live installed yet, but I rarely use it anyways.

As we speak right now, I'm getting all my projects on to the new hard drive, and compiling a song I was supposed to release last week.

It's been kind of nice actually, starting over. Xenu knows I've accumulated a lot of shit on my HD as time passes, at least now, I can be like "OK, I NEED that one". Hopefully TF2 and all my other games run better.

SO, here's what to expect the rest of the week:
Monday: NEW SONG!
Tuesday: Echo Chamber Podcast Recap
Next Sunday: Another Update

And other updates in between.

STATE OF THE BASTARD ADDRESS 2013

1. I'm 25 now. Hell yeah.

 2. NEW(EST) SONG: "Ride On" 3. SONG FROM THE DHMD SOUNDTRACK UP FOR DOWNLOAD BEFORE WE HAVE ALL NEW AND EPIC VERSIONS: "Heroes Die" 4. For my RBN output, 2012 was the year of MC Lars with:
"This Gigantic Robot Kills" AND
"Lars Attacks"

5. So, with the album coming out SOON, one of my songs, "Hell Yeah" is in Peer Review, and I do plan on putting the following songs up there, so to reiterate, it would be:
"College Party"
"Pass The Class"
"Robotman's Lament"
"XZ71"
"Heroes Die"
"Invisiball"
"Cliffhanger"
"Hell Yeah" (in progress)

6. HOLY SHIT I CAME OUT WITH A MUSIC VIDEO, "Pass The Class"

I'm looking to do another one, so if you're withing driving distance of the Palm Beach County area, send me an e-mail to rhythmbastard@gmail.com

7. Now that I live in Florida, there's a ton of conventions in the area, so I'm going to be e-mailing those guys again. I-Con was a lot of fun to do, and I hope to get in touch with some guys at PAX East, maybe do a little networking.

8. The album "Status Quo Radio" will be worked on again after Dino Hunter M.D. is done.

9. ALSO YOU GUYS SHOULD TOTALLY LISTEN TO THE Echo Chamber Podcast, courtest of Zone-Casts!

Hey, GUESSWHATIT'STIMEFOR?MY2012HIGHLIGHTS!

BEST PODCAST- The Echo Chamber
Started in July. this podcast has some fucking geniuses on it. Seriously, click on any of those and you'd get pure gold.

FAVORITE MOVIE OF THE YEAR- "Looper Unchained"
It was a toss up between Looper and Django Unchanined, so I dedcided, why not? Looper was shorter and more punchy, but Django Unchained was more exciting. There was a lot of good movies that came out this year, but these two were the best movies as singular entities.

BEST MOVIE THAT I WAS IN- "Halloween Party"
Yeah, I roundhouse kicked a zombie, whatevz.

FAVORITE MOVIE THAT WAS BASED ON SOMETHING AND/OR SETTING UP A SEQUEL OR ANY OF THAT OTHER BULLSHIT MOVIES ARE TRYING TO DO NOWADAYS- The Avengers
It was a lot of fun, but it was more of an event than a straight up movie. RDJ was as charming as ever, Hulk stole the show, Loki has so much villain swag I can't even contain it, and it was content to have a couple breaks from the action to let the characters interact. I wanted the Dark Knight Rises to be good, but it tried to do so much and it failed. Credit to Nolan for trying, but it felt a little unfocused at times.

FAVORITE GAME OF THE YEAR- The Walking Dead
It told it's story the only way a video game could. It felt like a real adventure, and most of my decisions were based on what I was thinking as opposed to what the game wanted me to think. Comedian Dana O' Briain has a bit how you can't be bad at watching a movie or reading a book, but you can be bad at video games, and I think that's what's holding them back as an art medium. You can give any doubter a copy of Bioshock or Shadow of The Collosus, but there will be a section they can't beat. The point of the video game requires you to finish it.

Gameplay wise, The Walking Dead is very simple, and the game rarely punishes you for a decision, it lets you punish yourself.

FAVORITE WAY TO PLAY A GAME- Dancing to Dance Central 3 in Stark Confusion
Yeah, I've hopped on the Dance Central train. I like it. But wow is the story straight up weird for a dancing game. Understandable, since Harmonix wanted the story a little more interesting than "Yeah, OK dance to progressively harder songs"

FAVORITE TOP 40 SONG I'LL ADMIT TO LIKING- A Lot of Them, Because It Seems That Now Labels Are Looking to Indie Rock For Inspiration

FAVORITE SONG THAT WAS ON THE RADIO THIS YEAR- "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men

For a while it seemed that music was becoming more condensed because FUCK WE HAVE TO HAVE NOISE EVERY SECOND OR ELSE THE PEOPLE WILL TURN OFF THEIR RADIOS, but with fun.'s output and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", it seems that we might be calming down after having a lot of club-inspired music for the past year.

FAVORITE SONG RELEASED ON ROCK BAND- "Party Hard" by Andrew WK
Just BARELY making the cut.

FAVORITE GIG- I-Con 2012
Duh.

SADDEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF 2012- Anything Bille Joe Armstrong  Did
The Uno! Dos! Tre! trilogy was all right, but the  "I'M NOT FUCKING JUSTIN BIEBER!" line just made me lose all faith in that man, possibly moreso than describing Rock Band Green Day as "like Mortal Kombat with guitars"

FAVORITE BAND I JUST BECAME AWARE OF THIS YEAR- Foxy Shazam
Thanks Jeff! If you were to combine Queen and noise rock, this is what you'd get.

FAVORITE SONG I RELEASED IN 2012- "Let The Bombs Go Off"
In the same year as "Hell Yeah", this one gets the vote. I liked what I did with it, I liked how it started, and it ws my first song done in Studio One.

So that's the  State Of The Bastard, I'm gonna make 2013 kick ass!

Sunday, November 4, 2012

That Was Halloween

Played a pretty good show despite my setup, danced like an idiot to some Beastie Boys and Foxy Shazam, and crashed on my couch at 3 in the morning wearing a Superman cape. Pretty damn good!

I had a digeriedoo as my opening act. The host was excited and got a couple people singing along to "Hell Yeah" and "Heroes Die", though the songs that went over best were impromptu acoustic renditions of "Party Rock Anthem" and "Teenagers From Mars".

OK, time for the Actual Updates!

1. DINO HUNTER M.D.: THE SOUND TRACK- Is ready for final production. Vocals have been re-recorded for a number of songs, a lot of stuff has been remixed and re-mastered, and there will be a bonus song or two added.

2. ROCK BAND NETWORK UPDATES- "Hell Yeah" is re-uploading as we speak. It's about 1/2-way done with the Peer Review phase, hopefully I can get this and "Lars Attacks!" out at the same time.

The next song  I'm putting on the RBN most of you have already heard if you listen to the Echo Chamber Podcast!

3. FUTURE CONS- Making a list, checking it twice, gonna sign up in advance cause this shit runs out quickly.

4. STATUS QUO RADIO- Once DHMD is done, that's what I'll be focusing on. There's a couple behind the scenes things I want to take care of, like an artist for the cover, and maybe a Kickstarter to pay for physical copies and whatnot.

5. File this under "Found Out About Too Late":

Not A Post About The Avengers

And how fun it was, and how all my fears about them not pulling it off were totally assuaged.

North Carolina smells and is retarded:

This man has a Batstache:

We all good? All right, after finishing my Changeling song, I've decided to start another webcomicky song. More on that tomorrow, this is just a filler post

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Geraldo Rivera Is An Idiot, Koltreg Angries Up My Blood.

Webcomicker and friend, Koltreg recently posted this video on his Tumblr:

I'm not good at summaries, but it's pertaining to the case of this.

In this video, Geraldo Rivera goes on Fox and Friends and urges black and latino teens to not wear hoodies because it makes them look suspicious. He then says, because Treyvon Martin (more on him later) wore a hoodie, that is just as responsible for Martin's death as George Zimmerman, an overzealous neighborhood watchman. His logic is that because the hoodie is associated with gangster imagery, in prompted a response from Zimmerman.

Geraldo Rivera, let me drop some logic of my own:

Let's assume that Martin and Zimmerman both made "bad decisions", because you assume such a thing is binary.

Let's see the consequences:
Martin- Being kind of hot on a humid Florida night, looking suspicious due to years of racial profiling.
Zimmerman: ENDING ANOTHER PERSON'S LIFE

Don't blame the victim here, BLAME THE GUY WHO ACTUALLY KILLED SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T DESERVE IT.

Yes, he acknowledges that racial discrimination is still A Thing, but it's A THING THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

In other Koltreg-made-me-mad news, this post reminds me of how much I hate me job.

In Tumblr related news, I consider getting one.

In other Tumblr related news, I decide not to.

The Skrill-est

UPDATE: MC Lars posted it up, AND it made RockBandAide.com's RBN Highlights!

WOOOOOOOO!!!

ALSO "STEVEN WELLS (HE WAS THE GREATEST)" FOR ONLY A DOLLAR!!!

MC Lars introduced me to a new term the other day: "Skrill", meaning money. My first thought was "that's probably where Skrillex got his name".

My second thought was "Oh yeah, 'This Gigantic Robot Kills' is skrill indeed!" I'm from the East Coast, so I've never heard that before, ergo I don't know how it's used. Also why I had a version of "TGRK" rejected because I didn't know a Wherehouse was an old record store chain and needed to be capitalized.

So, you may have seen the song , but HAVE YOU SEEN THE ALLOCADES?

Most recently, it's in the RBN Highlights. I'm 2 for 2!

Then, it got the highest honor a Rock Band song can get: a Full Band Full Combo video! That's an FBFC w/ GS! LMFAO!

Suburban Legends retweeted it!

AND IT CAME OUT AT THE PERFECT TIME!
The Aquabats Super Show coming this Saturday!

Suburban Legends with a new album!

AND I HAVE A GIG AT THE VAULT THIS SATURDAY!!!
SATURDAY!!

SATURDAY!!!

STATE OF THE BASTARD ADDRESS 2012

1. I'm 24 now. Heck yeah.

2. NEW SONG: "Status Quo Radio" by my old band, The Bastards. We were the biggest thing in 1968, and this was our hit single. I finally got the rights back to it!
Status Quo Radio by RhythmBastard

3. It will be the new theme song to my radio show, "The Bunker" coming back to Ozone Radio this Thursday!

4. THREE Rock Band Network Songs for 2012:
"This Gigantic Robot Kills" by MC Lars
"Lars Attacks!" by MC Lars
"We Are Not Alone" by Akira The Don
"Radio Days, Pt. 1" by ME if I have time.

5. Another New Year's Resolution: One gig at a Con, preferably I-Con coming this March/April. I don't live in a very musical part of NY. The most you'll see at my music scene is old guys covering "Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard", so gigs are few and far between not many want to venture into the city. I figured at a con, I may not get much in the way of fans, but it'll be a receptive audience, and that's the chance I need.

OK, now for my 2011 Highlights-
BEST TWEET- The time the official Axe Cop Twitter account retweeted my video of "Axe Cop: The Song" at The Vault.
That was a good day.

BEST FLASH GAME- Sagittarian 3
Where you can hear my song "Radio Days Pt. 1"!

BEST MOVIE THAT I WOULD ADMIT TO LIKING- "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes"
The best part was the few seconds of silence right after that character spoke. I never thought I could get so attached to the plight of a CGI monkey.

BEST MOVIE I FINALLY SAW- "Robocop"
The dad from That 70's Show tells some bitches to leave and rubs over a retarded fish man.

FAVORITE GAME- It was a tough choice, but I have to go with Arkham City.
Rocksmith has been a drug these past couple weeks, but nothing has tickled my brain in so many places like AC. Save for the Catwoman levels, the game, while not as cohesive or solid story-wise as Asylum, still manages to please. If AA was American Idiot, Arkham City would be 21st Century Breakdown.

FAVORITE WAY TO PLAY A GAME- Gears Of War as not manly as possible
Me and my friend start off with a hearty BRONUX and then play "Hey Homies!" by The Aquabats as we have a variety of teas coupled with Mike's Hard Lemonade. Then my friend describe the different architectural styles of each building we shoot Locust in. He seems to be more fond of GoW1 than GoW2, which is what we're playing through now.

FAVORITE TOP 40 SONG I'LL ADMIT TO LIKING- "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele
As much as the overplay of "Someone Like You" is starting to wear on me, I like this a lot. It's intimate, itt's got a strong beat, and listening to it with headphones now, I WISH I could make something sound this well put together with so little.

FAVORITE TOP 40 SONG I WON'T ADMIT TO LIKING- "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but it sounds really happy and they're at the right amount of awareness for what the hell they're doing.

BEST INTERNET TV SHOW- Dino Hunter, MD
Dinos, action, POW AND music by me, The Rhythm Bastard!

BEST SONG RELEASED ON THE ROCK BAND NETWORK- "Steven Wells (He Was The Greatest)" by Akira The Don
Oh, is that my name on it? Hmm... It was one of Rock Band's Recommended songs... AND NOW ONLY ONE DOLLAR!!!

FAVORITE SONG ON REGULAR ROCK BAND- "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness
FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.

FAVORITE BAND I JUST BECAME AWARE OF THIS YEAR- The Black Keys
I picked up "Brothers" and "El Camino" over the past couple months, and I really dig their sound. Both are good for wasteland wandering in Fallout 3.

OCCUPATION MOST DESERVING OF A PUNCH TO THE FACE- Cops/Politicians (save for Bernie Sanders)
Two groups of people who made perfectly clear that if you're outside their little world, you're FUCKED.

FAVORITE SONG I RELEASED IN 2011- "From A Mile Away (Boom, Headshot)"

FAVORITE GIG OF 2011- The Gig Of Legend

So overall, a pretty good year.

And that's it for now. More to come!

Fuck It, It's My Blog

Ooh, Update Time?

Yeah, sure.

1. Thing I've been working on the most? Application to Harmonix for Narrative Designer. Working on the writing sample now. It's been hanging over my head for a while, and I just want to get it done.

2. Working on a couple new songs, AND a new video.

3. "This Gigantic Robot Kills" needs a re-do on the vocal section, but I should have it re-uploaded by Monday.

4. I recorded video of myself on last week's episode of The Bunker. Once I edit it up and splice the songs in, I'll post up something on blip.tv.

5. Fuck you, it's my blog.

Come Back Tomorrow

FOR:

REPOST: NinjaGamerGeek Reports on the Announcement Of My Announcement

So anyway, news of the announcement of my announcement has already hit the major game blogs. Or at least one of them, NinjaGamerGeek.com. Unfortunately, due to this economic clusterfuck us Yanks find ourselves in, it had to file for bankruptcy, and no longer exists. Still, I need to highlight such outstanding journalism:

-----------------------------------------
RHYTHM BASTARD: COOL STUFF AND BEAT PEOPLE UP

Sup dawg, I herd u liek announcements? The Rhythm Bastard announced an announcement so he can announce annoucements while he announces announcement. Lol. What a fage.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. RHYTHM BASTARD ANNOUNCES ANNOUNCEMENT.

NEW YORK, NY. Person who does a thing on internet Rhythm Bastard has announced today that he will make an announcement. When asked about the nature of said announcement, he said this:
"Well, it's certainly not because I'm finishing up work on a song, or some other cool stuff I was thinking of doing and didn't want to go a week without an update"

His accountant, Phil, claims "He stole my last name and then beat me with it."

As to why The Rhythm Bastard has announced an announcement instead of waiting till the actual date: "Because as much as I enjoy reading "Game Journalists Are Incompetent Fuckwits" I'm not a games journalist, just a music player. And I don't see no website called "Game Musicians Are Incompetent Fuckwits" and even then it would just be one page that says "DragonForce""

The Rhythm Bastard's only claim to fame was posting the Guitar Hero: Arcade setlist.

He also has a song about Axe Cop available for download.

--------------------------------

See how good of an article it is? You can tell it's great because they copied and pasted the article straight from my site. And I'm a good writer, so by transitive property, this is one of the greatest pieces of news of all time. Also, how the headline made assumptions, instead of reporting that I only announced an announcement which may or may not be cool stuff instead of actually doing it, was a nice touch.

Rhythm Bastard Pleased With Sucess Of Announcement Of Announcement

SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2010. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: RHYTHM BASTARD PLEASED WITH SUCCESS OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANNOUNCEMENT.

NEW YORK, NY. Rhythm Bastard, who recently announced that he would make an announcement, boasts of his recent success:
"I got like, a million hits from just the idea that I'll be announcing something."

Records show he only received 16 hits. 7 of those were counted twice.

Will it be big? The Rhythm Bastard seems to think so: "With all these posts related to my as of yet unmade announcement of something big, it can't possibly be a letdown! Like Daiktana! Or the box-office draw to Scott Pilgrim vs The World" The latter being a movie staring Michael Cera based off a series of Graphic Novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The former is bieng turned into a movie starring Michael Cera and will be released in 2013.

His accountant Phil had this to say: "As a running joke that nobody gives a shit about as well as an accountant, this is a huge failure. He doesn't even sell anything, and barely bothers to network. For the love of God, please get me out of here. This man keeps me chained in his parents basement"

The Rhythm Bastard's father is equally unimpressed with the success of the announcement: "I don't care if my generation turned into a bunch greedy fucks and would rather make a profit than hire new people to ease the workload, I'm tired of him on the goddamn computer and playing his goddamn guitar."

His mother's take on the event is unorthodox, to say the least "Could you do me a favor and bring the laundry basket down?" She said, standing next to said laundry basket with perfectly functioning legs.

Regardless, the Rhythm Bastard remains steadfast that his announcement will bring him even more success: "Read my lips. I will make you my bitch."

He then proceeded to physically abuse his accountant, Phil.

The Rhythm Bastard had originally started a blog to chronicle his learning of the songs from the original Rock Band music video game. Now he does this shit and writes his own songs. His only claim to fame was posting the Guitar Hero: Arcade setlist.

He also has a song about Axe Cop available for download. Other songs can be downloaded via his Newgrounds Page.

Juggalos Attempt To Kill Tila Tequila

You're fuckin' weird, God.

BTW, Green Day said HEY-O alot at the PNC and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was a pretty cool movie.

Keeping Up With The Bastards

As it's become heir apparent, I've been putting less time in to learning Rock Band songs, and more time in RBN and my own music.

There's been two reasons for that:
1. I feel like I need to update if there's no song done, which is why I might skip Train Kept A Rollin' and Green Grass and High Tides. Like most of these upper tier songs, the main riff is simple, followed by a 2 minute long solo. As much as an accomplishment those two songs are, I just can't see myself memorizing all of that at a rate where I'd have regular updates. I could do smaller updates, but it feels like a cop-out when I crank one of those out.

2. Playing other people's songs has given me a penchant for playing my own. I know everything I do is bootleg right now (PUNK RAWK DON'T CARE). My guitar playing is slightly better than total amateur, my singing voice sucks, and I can't write a drum part.

I am up to learning the solo to "Flirtin' With Disaster", and that's really the cut off for me as far as solo lengths go.

Now, on to shit that's been occupying me time:
RBN- Working on the vocals for "Steven Wells". "OMG HE TALKS SO FAST! THE VERSES ARE THE HARDEST PARTS!" I say. Then come the choruses: "Oh, you tone-def Bastard. Clearly I'm the greater niusance! Automatic voice charting has given you nothing!" Then I smack Phil around for a few minutes and have some tea.
Hopefully soon I can get the drum tabs from ATD. If not, I need someone with a good ear for drums.

My Music- I have a few songs in the pipeline. A country-style song, "Radio Days" will be ready as soon as my cold clears up. Then there's another song I did called "Gonzo" which I'll aim to have out February 20th for obvious reasons. Then there's another song I made called "Axe Cop" because for some reason I come up with weirder shit sober.

The next big Open Mic Night is February 23rd. There's one tomorrow night, but it's snowy here in NY, and I don't think I feel like wheeling all my shit to the train station.

I'll try to add some new links in the sidebar this week.

Steven Tyler To Leave Aerosmith

According to the Associated Press, long time singer for Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, is leaving the band to work on a solo project. Joe Perry posted the update through Twitter after Tyler announced it on the WKXL morning show.

I'm willing to voulenteer for either project. Seriously.

In Bastard News, tomorrow's song update will be "Foreplay". "Long Time" maybe.

I'm With The Band and Other Stuff

1. I'm officially in a band now, and we had our first rehearsal today. It was an experience to say the least. I'm not going to say anything optimistic, because as we all know whatever predictions I type on this blog turn to fail. But some highlights:
-Lugging a heavy 30 W amp on the LIRR, to a meeting with a professor to the rehearsal, ON HEAVY LEG DAY. Everyone wonders how I got so jacked. Well, now you know: I lug heavy shit around all day. But do I skip legs in my workouts? NO. All these jackasses who say they don't work legs because "they already walk" are full of shit. Unless you're either me on a day where I play guitar or your job is go give sumo wrestlers piggy back rides, then try a deadlift or two.
-Setting up with a friend of mine and meeting the drummer. He seems cool. We played "Seven Nation Army" while waiting for our singer to show up. Started playing "Tom Sawyer" and "Enter Sandman" while I was messing around with those riffs.
-Singer half an hour late. To be fair, only the drummer knew where this on-campus drum room is.
-Singer bringing his guitar, but not his amp. And we were supposed to be playing a song he wrote.
-DAYMAN!!! AAaaaAAahhh!! FIGHTER OF THE NIGHT MAN!!! AaaaAAaaHH!! CHAMPION OF THE SUN!!! AAAAaaaAAAahh! YOU'RE A MASTER OF KARATE AND FRIENDSHIP TO EVERYONE!!
-Bassist? Ha ha, what bassist?

2. National Novel Writing Month has be motivated to other things, and be more apt to set more strict goals for myself. So I will be shooting for one song a week, starting Sunday, because Saturday I have a review, and Sunday will be a Bonus Song.
