Status Quo Sunday Catching Up With Cons

Yup, one of these again! You'd THINK I'd learn to be more on top of these, huh?

Welp, let's start from the beginning...

MEGAPLEX!

First off, credit to Wolico/ToxicFreakHound for the promo picture:

Because the show was VERY late, I needed something to hand out. It was still a fun time, and I was able to collapse in my VERY nice hotel room. Considering this is my second time around, I saw more familiar faces and tried to know more people beforehand via Telegram chats and the like, and hey, turns out a lot of furries are nice people!

I also got paid to play a party, so that's on the table for future cons!

Still maintain that Megaplex has the best solution for the artist alley: $10, 4 hour shifts, first come first serves. It's a great way for artists to get their foot in the door since it's not a lot to set up, and you're not wasting a lot of time and money if you're too new to really sell well. Though finally having Swoletariat tanks for sale also helped.

Telegram was ALSO a good place to learn how to take on a certain project, namely...

Making a Thrash Panda head! At this point it was very rough, I didn't even have a back, but getting it to this point was a work in and of itself. I'll make a video highlighting the process, but it was so satisfying to get to at least here. I really felt I leveled up during this project because I learned how to work with foam, work with leather and work with fur, and at the end, I had a head I can wear.

MIZUCON!

Primetime show, baby! Also had BastardMania for sale on CD!

This show had another thing that I'll never go back from: BLUETOOTH. P A SYSTEM. Made the show much easier to work with. Mizucon's staff was also very on top of things and VERY helpful with the show. I'm eager to see what they come up with next year when we have more elbow room.

Also saw the premiere of Thrash Panda Mark II

ANIME IWAI SHOW!

2:30 on Friday, in Main Events

Hope to see you all there!

I'm also booking for room parties if anyone is interested, provided you let me carry a backpack o' merch!

NEW MERCH! SWOLETARIAT TANKS AND BASTARDMANIA CD!

Join The Swoletariat Tank Top main photo

New for fall! These have been selling very well, and it's great to have this stuff upfront, in person, since people always walk away happy. You can't ALWAYS rely on people to remember to check out your Bandcamp or Threadless page.

FUTURE STUFF?

I've been juggling around some projects, and one of them is a visual novel that will go out to my patrons first, then I'll post up on itch.io, akin to many other VNs, like The Echo Project

Still don't know how I'll peter it out to the levels of Patron, maybe
$1 - Build of the game
$5 - Soundtrack
$20 - Script

But all that's up in the air, and I'm adding these VN updates in rotation with original music and covers, so it will be sporadic.

Status Quo Sunday Recruits You For The U.M.I.

I'm patting myself on the back for that one. Show went as best as it could be. A little harried from the early morning drive, but I got to meet up with everyone, play some Magic and shoot some pool, which I haven't done since sophomore year of college.

It's another week where RAW's on, and I was too wiped out Sunday to do this, so let's go with two sentence recaps, shall we?

UMICON MUSIC INITIATIVE- While it wasn't that big, I loved working with all of these people and I feel that if they advertise it as a "Big Event" for next year, even with the same lineup,

S.S. HANAMI- Solid as always, and ended the last song with James, their bassist, played the ending with a violin bow. It's good when bands let the rhythm section let loose.

RHYTHM BASTARD- Obviously the most talented and best looking act on the card, who can lift 2000 pounds and had sex with ALL the groupies. Even with a small crowd and a broken string, RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT.

THE COG IS DEAD- Good crowd, good music, good times. Covered "Still Alive" and "Firefly Theme", but if they REALLY wanted to play to the crowd, they would have played "Freebird" when I yelled it one of the 80 times because I really meant it and wasn't trying to be obnoxious I swear you guys.

GEEKAPELLA- They perfectly rounded out the U.M.I. Where everyone had a mix of genres and instruments, they had none and switched on the fly. YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!

MAGIC THE GATHERING CELEBRITY DRAFT- Played some Limited Magic with Aaron Dismuke and Justin Cook, alongside some newbie drafters who passed me some AWESOME stuff to where I could make a UB Constellation Deck. Played against Aaron in the Semi-Finals, lost, but he gave me two packs of Journey Into Nyx.

SATURDAY NIGHT- One arrest, like, seven very awkward drunk people, and a million rounds of pool. An older drunken gentleman showed me where he got stabbed, which did make the night feel pretty badass.

SUNDAY- Didn't catch much actually, played a couple guerilla shows then read "Half Life Full Life Consequences" for a group of people. Was told I had a voice for radio and a face for TV by one of the voulenteers.

Also, I met one of the guys who I met up with last year before the Quiton Flynn Panel. They ended up get super drunk and loud.

Music coming next week! Just sent out the e-mail to all the artists.

-Deadpool: Secret Of The Booze Episode

-VIDEO GAEM DRINKSS!!!!
1. Sonic The Hedgehog 2006
4 parts Everclear
4 parts Bleach
1 parts Cherry Vanilla Mountain Dew that you get from a 7-11 that has those things where you can add your own flavoring.

Mix in large glass. Drink. Keep drinking. It's the only way.

2. Triple-A Game
1 bottle of the three most expensive things at your local liquor store

Add a splash of each inside a double shot glass, then fill the rest of the way with water.

3. Call Of Duty
Make a Triple-A Game, but instead of water, use the shittiest American beer you can find.

Then watch Fox News.

4. Goat Simulator
1 Part fecal matter
1 part urine

Combine both ingredients and put inside a jug. Let it fermet outside for three weeks.
Then make PewDiePie drink it. This has nothing to do with the game, I just want to see him drink fermented body waste.

-Dickbutt- NOT POSTING because im at work

-Think Geek's Dumb Bacon Shit:
BACON SALT- Boy, I sure like my salty stuff to taste EXTRA Salty!
BACON HOT SAUCE- If it's too hot, then you lose the flavor of the bacon, and if you keep the flavor of the bacon, then it's not that hot. At least with Sirachia it's like FUCK YOU!!!
BACON CANDY- Pop rocks with a bacon after taste? Eww...
LOLLIPOPS- Less disgusting, I guess? Might work? But then wouldn't everything taste EXTRA syrupy? Like that syrup chugging scene in the movie Super Troopers?
TACTICAL BACON- Canned bacon. I was about to give it a pass, but then it mentioned zombies in the description and started to vomit.
BACON GIFT PACK- For the man who has everything, except heart disease and tastebuds.

 -John Cena/Potato Salad

I feel like the next combination should be Randy Orton/Pasta Salad (w/ Bowtie pasta and olive oil) and Daniel Bryan/Coleslaw. Maybe if the Roman Reigns push is successful, he can have Macaroni salad.

Echo Chamber Post Game Part 79

TWITTER DOT COM SLASH YOU'RE DOWNLOADING THIS EPISODE

-Ah, public shaming. Sometimes you're the one and only way to get assholes to reconsider their position.
"I'm not Homophobic, but my Invisible Sky Man says scissoring and touching weiners will put me in a firey place when I die"
"I'm not Racist, but I'm Fucking Terrified Of Black People and I have all these crime statistics o prove it, ignoring the fact that a people who been systematically discriminated against would face a higher rate of poverty, and would be more likely to be stopped by the police."
"I'm not sexist, but as a Men's Rights Activist, I demand free sex without having to change anything about myself"

Of course, all of the above translate to:
"I was born as a straight, white male, and I don't have any other skills, so that fat that I might have to develop as a person terrifies me"

-Here's a link to that Daniel Tosh bit I mentioned. These old Comedy Central Presents Episodes were really some of the best. Kyle Cease and Dane Cook are some really good ones, Gabriel Iglesias had one

-MY CLIENT, BROCK LESNAR, CONQUERED THE STREAK!

How much would I have to pay Paul Heyman to just accompany me on job interviews, shows and dates and stuff and just do his thing?

-Here's  convienent list of video game drinking games:

Time? Well...

OK, I'm up at school fore the weekend, figuring I'll get a ton of crap (RB songs, song writing, HW) done without everyone begging me to do crap and the normal distractions of home. How did I spend Saturday? Playing TF2 while sipping on Coke and Jack Daniels...

The updates are going to be scarce for the next couple days vis a vis the setlist songs, since Open Mic Night is this Wednesday, and I need to practice.

Rock and Gambling In Atlantic City

From RockGamer, another Friend:
"Through a national deal with Harrah’s Entertainment and MTV, Rock Band nights will be offered three times a week at Harrah’s Resort, Bally’s Atlantic City’s Wild Wild West Casino and the House of Blues at Showboat Casino-Hotel.
And to get you out of your house, Harrah’s is offering some big-time prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000 and a chance to open up for the B-52’s at the House of Blues on May 9.
“We’re really hoping this gets some regional and national buzz,” says Harrah’s Regional Director of Entertainment Jason Spencer. “The initial buzz has been great. We have high hopes.”
Here’s how it works: The competitions start on Wednesday, March 4, at Harrah’s Eden Lounge, followed by Thursday, March 5, at the Sports Bar at Bally’s, and Friday, March 6, at the House of Blues.
"

Sounds like fun, but a bit impractical, and only for those who live near AC or participating cities. Who will want to drive 2 1/2 hours (from my end anyway) to participate in a competition. OK, the B-52s are a bit...a lot...um... better, than Panic At The Disco and Dashboard Confessional, however all the competition days ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. Wouldn't it be easier to host it on the weekend when people are actually coming?

I'm heading down March 28th when my Dad's playing in a WSOP Satellite Tourney, so maybe they'll have a stage set up where anyone can play regardless.

Harrah's is good though. I went there the week after my 21st birthday, and lost about $150. However, I came upon this PROTIP: Sit at a penny slot, put in 10 bucks, play one cent at a time, and get free booze.

New Jersey taxpayer dollars at work people.

Currently workin' on "Don't Fear The Reaper". Right now it looks like the only challenge is just arpeggiating the legendary intro.

21

I offically turned 21 today!

Last night, family came over, and it was cool. I got a bunch of tiny little liquor bottles, but other than that, nothing too exciting. I'm hard to shop for since I'm not really impulsive.

But the highlight of the night was when everyone wanted to play Rock Band, so we broke it out, and got to rockin'. The funniest part was when my older brother, half drunk, sang "Detroit Rock City", and halfway through was like "I don't know this".

Even better was that when everyone left, and we imported all the songs from Rock Band 1 (lil' bro got it for the PS3 only to return the next day), my Dad came in, saw "Tangled Up In Blue" and actually wanted to play. Granted, he sung, but still. He usually chides my and my brothers for not being that into playing sports (unless you count weightlifting a sport), and it was touching him wanting to be a part of our world. Then Mom sang "Should I Stay Or Should I Go".

TL;DR- I enjoyed my 21st birthday.
