Rock Band Weekly DLC Ending After 5+ Years
So, after 5+ years of weekly DLC, Rock Band is finally putting all o' that to a close. Even though I didn't buy every week, it was still nice to see what they got, and what was coming out every week. Everyone's already said their piece about their own Rock Band experiences,so I'ma skip all that. But really, between this and moving, my quarter life crisis and the new console generation coming, it's a lot of scary change happening at once.
Now, the last week is going to be an "fitting ending song" and the top 3 predictions seem to be "American Pie" by Don McLean, "The End" by The Doors, and "Closing Time" by Semisonic.
Allow me to propose three alternate final songs:
1. "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem
First off, tell me this wouldn't be awesome on all instruments. The drums are fast, the guitar ramps up as the songs progresses, the bassline is strong, if a little repetitive, and the keyboard pattern can change between the chord-based rhythm and the synth lead to keep it interesting.
It's got a bittersweet feeling to it, and it was the last song at LCD Soundsystem's farewell concert, so it could be fitting.
2. "Super Rad" by The Aquabats!
"And if we die, before the battle's through... Tell your Mom, tell your Dad we were super rad!"
I just want some goddamn Aquabats in my game before it kicks the bucket for good.
3. "Dio" by Tenacious D
"Rock Band has rocked for a long, long time..."
It's not that long or that difficult, but in a sense it fits. The rocking is over, but Harmonix, through it's Pro Guitar/Keys/Bass/Drums, has taught the secrets that others have learned. Their sauce has mixed with ours, and it has created a goulash known as the Rock Band Network.
4. "Rock is Dead" by Tenacious D
It's got a big rock ending, strong 6/8 rhythm section and a wicked solo to boot.
5. "Hell Yeah" by Rhythm Bastard
Dear Harmonix, I will change all the lyrics to reflect the last DLC. Just hook a brother up. For reals.

March 21st, 2012 Videos Of The Week
Oh. Damn. I forgot how to do these...
Right, LIVE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Young The Giant covering "Ignition (Remix)" by R. Kelly
Young The Giant covers “Ignition (Remix)”
This song was popular back when I was in high school, and the "freakin' weekend" rhyme gets me the every time. For such an indie band, these guys pulled off a rap song pretty well. The singer's got a nice, smooth voice and the lead guitar is perfect for that R&B feeling.
AV Undercover is defintely an experiment I want to try out myself, and it's introduced me to so many good bands. I'm definitely checking out more from Young The Giant.
MUSIC VIDEO OF THE WEEK: "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem
Look. Look at James Murphy's eyes. Look how sad he is.
Hear how desperate he sounds, like he's had the best night of his life and now it totally sucks because he's coming down off that high and he's thinking "How the hell am I going to get back home?" and then he wakes up the next morning and it's Sunday and the only thought on his mind recovering from the hangover at 1 PM (when he woke up) is, "Fuck, I have work tomorrow" and ponders what the hell he's been doing with his life and how his friends have moved on and, let's face it, he doesn't have anyone left at this point as he wonders "Where are my friends tonight?"
I can feel the Bowie.
