Finger Permutations

I've done this in practice before, but now I've actually found a name for it.

Basically, take 4 notes, and play those up and down the neck.
Ex: 1,2,4,3
e---------------------------------------------------------1-2-4-3-----
B-----------------------------------------------1-2-4-3--------------
G------------------------------------1-2-4-3-------------------------
D------------------------1-2-4-3-------------------------------------
A------------1-2-4-3-------------------------------------------------
E-1-2-4-3------------------------------------------------------------

Start by working the picking hand, and play one note per beat, then play the same note twice in one beat, then work up to 16th notes (4 notes/beat).

Then work the fretting hand the same way, by playing a note per beat, work your way up to playing the tab above as eights, triplets and 16ths.

A good metronome to use would be Online Metronome. If you have a DS Homebrew card, you can use DSMetronome. You can even change the backing drum pattern.
